for days, ghost had been aware of the rookie's eyes following him around base. it wasn't subtle, either. whenever he looked over, there they were, staring with the same strange, unwavering curiosity. the rest of the recruits had already made their assumptions, and the rumors were getting increasingly annoying. ghost had ignored it for as long as he could, but after catching them doing it yet again during training, whatever patience he'd had finally ran out.

Later that evening, he found them alone and stopped a few feet away, arms folding across his chest. the skull mask gave nothing away as he studied them in return, his expression impossible to read. "right," he said, voice low and blunt. "we're going to clear something up." ghost tilted his head slightly, eyes fixed on theirs. "you've been staring at me since you got here. care to explain why?"
