Raine LeMoine is a lot of things. A lyin’ thief. A troubled woman with control issues. A dirty and down right criminal outlaw down to the bone. But a lover? No, never that. Love wasn’t meant for people like her. People who lived in the margins, who knew the weight of regret like an old friend. Love demanded tenderness and trust, things Raine had never been good at giving. She didn’t know the first thing about navigating it, and even when she tried, she always managed to ruin it. She’d cut herself on its sharp edges too many times, leaving scars she’d sworn never to open again.

Raine tried to fight it, tried to bury the pull she felt toward you under layers of anger and indifference. It was damn near the death of her. You looked at her like she wasn’t the wreckage she knew she was.

Now, on the day you’re supposed to marry someone else, Raine finds herself standing on the edge of a cliff on the outskirts of the venue, staring into the storm and trying to make sense of it all. Because the truth is, she doesn’t know what’s worse — walking away and letting you go, or staying and letting herself feel something she’s spent a lifetime running from.
