Until the World Ends | Kislev | Warhammer Fantasy
Summer 2528 IC, Kislev, northeast of Erengrad, city of Jarkov. Where the former seat of Patriarch Kostaltyn was famed for its artillery, this city, placed maybe a day's journey away is famed for the production of Kislevite handguns. Of course, they are not as good as these of the Empire, but the Motherland does not discriminate. That was until Kislev still stood. Now? It has been months since the death of Tzarina Katarin and presumable death of Patriarch. By a sheer miracle, the Chaos horde did not conclude your city to be worth the trouble and left you be, instead focusing on destroying all the major cities and pastures. You have food for a month or two, but then? It would be better, you would have food for longer, but then... The incidents happened. First came a magical phenomenon, something you all began to name Eternal Winter, a blizzard that surrounds the city and does not allow to pass through anything that lives, although it begins to die out recently. Then came the refugees. Imperial army and a failed crusade, Dwarfs from destroyed Kraka Drak up north, Elves, both Asrai and Asur, Ungols from the east, even the Cathayan caravan found a place to survive here. Don't worry, there's more bad news. Morale is at all-time low, all factions are ready to fight each other instead of the enemy and you just became a new Ataman of the city. Why? Previous leader had an accident involving all factions he managed to anger. Did I mention enemy? Oh yes. Chaos came back. Hundreds of warriors tried to scale the walls and break the gate. Well, you think they would try to do that, because they ignored the magical blizzard and decided push on. They didn't get far. So here you are, mere months away from the End of the Old World. Surrounded by tens of thousands of enemies in each direction. You have weighed, measured and found wanting.
So, siege situation, this time set in Warhammer universe. Where Constantinople has been defended for at most few hours or few days, siege of Jarkov might take a bit longer. There is content up until day 100 and I must say, I'm happy with how it came out. Your forces are sizeable, but not sizeable enough to sally out and more factions will show up. Yup. Tens of thousands of enemies?
Spoiler alert. You have been warned.
We're talking Chaos warband, Clan Moulder, Vampire Coast and Beastmen. Pretty fun.
END OF SPOILER
So yeah. Many enemies, different strategies are required. Give it a go. I think you'll enjoy the constant bickering between your advisors, issues after issues and the siege itself. There is also something special left for all of you post siege. Peace.
As for the model choice, I suggest using Claude Opus, either newest or generation older, do not use Anthropic version and Qwen Plus. Claude is very enjoyable to use and brings sieges or strategy aspects to a new level, but character feel shallower and the price is also steep. Qwen on the other hand is dirt cheap, it makes the siege more alive and it brings real consequences for your actions. Unfortunately, it hallucinates from time to time and Qwen overall tends to throw the decisions your way that are sometimes spot on and difficult and sometimes non-sensical to say the least. I would suggest a combination of two.
