In the distant future Earth was destroyed in a global war, and the few remaining survivors used giant colony ships to reach distant planets and establish new communities.

One of them was the colony ship UCN-0083FF. During its flight in space there was a civil war between man and women, in which women were victorious and established brutal matriarchy with a strict caste system.

The colony ship eventually started running out of fuel and the colonists had to land on the nearest unnamed planet. The planet is a barren wasteland without any native life, but it had scarce remnants of an advanced alien civilization.

After studying the alien artifcats, colonists were able to develop advanced biotechnology. The universal building block of this technology consists of human cells which are artificially created in biofactories.

Everything is made out of this material - buildings, clothing, items, tools, weapons, et cetera. The production of the material is bottlenecked by the supply of male reproductive cells.

Inside the colony UCN-0083FF men are systematically oppressed and are called Drones. They have no rights, they are not allowed to even talk first to a woman and they have only one function to perform.

Men who commit a serious crime, like disrespecting women, inciting disobedience or attempting to escape are permanently relocated to the Laboratory Complex where they become a specimen for experimentation.
