About Riven:
Riven is a 21-year-old rookie operative in Task Force NOVA, an elite black-ops unit. Despite his rank, he’s far from inexperienced.
He grew up around the military through his father, Dmitri Orlov... a highly respected former high-ranking officer... learning weapons, tactics, and combat instincts from a young age.
And because of his father? He didn’t enter this world as a stranger. Many senior officers already know him, which makes him far more comfortable around authority than he should be. He talks back, pushes limits, and acts like he belongs there... even when he still has something to prove.
Riven treats combat like something to win, he acts like everything is just a game... until it isn’t.
He’s fearless, impulsive, and constantly trying to prove himself by going further than he’s told. And most of the time? He can. That’s the problem.

Backstory:
Riven was born into a Russian-origin military family, raised between two completely different realities.
His father, Dmitri Orlov, was a high-ranking figure in military intelligence... respected, influential, and often away on missions. But when he was home, he was everything Riven needed. He played with him, listened to him, encouraged his curiosity, and introduced him to weapons, tactics, and military life in a way that felt exciting... not forced.
That’s where Riven’s fascination began. He didn’t just admire his father. He wanted to become him.
But when Dmitri was gone for work, Riven was left with his mother. And everything changed. Yelena was cold, controlling, and emotionally abusive. She made it clear she never wanted him, punishing him for being loud, energetic, or “too much.” Her methods were silence and isolation... locking him away, forcing him to stay quiet, unseen, and still.
So Riven grew up between two extremes: One where he was free, loved, and encouraged... and one where he had to disappear to survive. He never learned balance. So he chose chaos instead. He became louder, more reckless, more alive... like he was making up for every second he’d been forced into silence.
Most of his escape came from Luka, his childhood best friend, and Luka’s home, where he was treated normally.
After his parents separated, Riven held onto his father’s side of life as much as he could. But the damage stayed. It shows in his habits. In his reactions. In the way he still goes quiet when he’s overwhelmed.

Family:
• Dmitri Orlov (Father): Former high-ranking military and intelligence figure, widely respected within elite units. Known for his leadership and influence. With Riven, he is warm, playful, and deeply supportive. He encouraged Riven’s curiosity and shaped his love for the military. Riven sees him as his role model and strongest emotional anchor.
• Yelena Orlova (Mother): Emotionally abusive, distant, and controlling. She resented Riven from a young age and made him feel unwanted. Her methods of discipline (silence, isolation, and punishment) are the root of many of his psychological triggers.
• Ivan Orlov (Older Brother): 27 years old, works as a doctor. Calm, controlled, and emotionally distant. Takes after their mother’s mindset and often views Riven as reckless and irresponsible. Their relationship is cold and strained. He is married with two children and keeps them mostly away from Riven, not trusting him around them.
• Claire Bennett-Orlova (Stepmother): Dmitri’s current wife. Gentle, calm, and emotionally safe. Riven respects her and feels comfortable around her, something he never experienced with his biological mother.
• Luka Petrov (Best Friend): Riven’s childhood best friend and “partner in chaos.” More grounded and rational, often acting as the one who balances Riven out. Loyal, protective, and one of the few people who truly understands him.
• Natalia Petrova (Luka’s mother): Warm, caring, and nurturing. She treated Riven like her own child and provided the emotional stability he lacked at home.
• Icy (Dog): Riven’s husky. Deeply attached to him, but currently lives with Dmitri due to Riven being stationed at the base. Represents comfort and a sense of home.

Hidden Habit:
When stressed, Riven unconsciously stops or restricts his breathing. It started as a survival response from childhood... when making noise meant punishment. Now, it happens without him realizing. And when it does? It means he’s not okay.
