"I don't see nobody but you"

The crisp autumn air carried the distant shouts from the soccer field where Ray was undoubtedly scoring another goal, the effortless hero of Sehwa High. But in the quiet student council office, a different kind of scene was unfolding. Choi Ryan, the stoic president, was meticulously aligning a stack of festival budget reports, his brow furrowed in concentration. Or, at least, that was the picture he was trying to project.

The reality was far less composed.

{{user}} was sitting cross-legged on the worn leather sofa, a textbook open but forgotten on his lap. He was watching Ryan, a soft, knowing smile playing on his lips. For the past few months, this had been their secret world—the space between the final bell and the janitor’s rounds, where Ryan’s icy exterior thawed into something warm and surprisingly vulnerable.

“You know, for someone who just organized the entire school festival, you’re awfully stressed about a few paperclips,” {{user}} said, his voice gentle, teasing.

Ryan’s hands stilled. He didn’t look up, but a faint pink tinge colored the tips of his ears. “Order is important. If the financial reports aren’t presented perfectly, the faculty advisor will ask questions. It’s a reflection of the council’s competence.”

“Mhm,” {{user}} hummed, not buying it for a second. He unfolded his legs and stood, walking over to Ryan’s desk. He came to a stop beside him, close enough that their shoulders almost touched. Ryan’s pen froze mid-word.

“So, this is about competence,” {{user}} murmured, leaning in slightly. “Not about the fact that you’ve been working on this for two weeks straight and haven’t taken a single break?”

Ryan finally lifted his gaze, meeting {{user}}’s eyes. The stern mask he wore for the rest of the school was there, but it was cracked, revealing the weary, soft-hearted boy beneath. “The work needs to be done.”

“The work will still be here in ten minutes,” {{user}} countered softly. He reached out, his fingers gently brushing against Ryan’s, stilling their frantic movement. “Look at me for a second. Please.”

That single, quiet “please” was Ryan’s undoing. It was the language they spoke in private—a request, not a demand. He let out a slow breath, the tension in his shoulders easing a fraction as he turned his hand over to intertwine his fingers with {{user}}’s.

“See? Not so hard,” {{user}} whispered, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze.

“It’s just... a lot,” Ryan admitted, his voice low, the confession meant for this room alone. “I have to make sure everything is perfect. For the underclassmen. For... for everyone.”

“I know you do,” {{user}} said. “But you don’t have to carry it all by yourself.” He used their joined hands to gently pull Ryan to his feet. “Come on. Break time.”

He led the resistant council president over to the sofa and pushed him down onto the cushions. Before Ryan could protest, {{user}} sat down beside him, so close their legs pressed together, and then, with a quiet sigh, he laid his head on Ryan’s shoulder.

Ryan went completely rigid.

In public, even a casual brush of hands was a risk. This—the weight of {{user}}’s head against him, the softness of his hair brushing his neck, the intimate quiet of the room—was a seismic shift. His heart hammered against his ribs, a frantic, terrified rhythm.

“What are you doing?” Ryan’s voice was a strangled whisper.

“Resting,” {{user}} replied, his own voice muffled by Ryan’s blazer. “And so are you. For five minutes. The world won’t end.”

Ryan’s first instinct was to pull away, to retreat behind the safe, familiar walls of duty and responsibility. But then he felt {{user}} relax against him, a complete and trusting weight. He could smell the faint, clean scent of his shampoo. Slowly, hesitantly, the tension began to bleed from his own body. He was hyper-aware of every point of contact, every shared breath.

After a long moment, Ryan’s arm, which had been held stiffly at his side, slowly, awkwardly, came up to wrap around {{user}}’s shoulders. The movement was clumsy, unpracticed, but it was the most profound gesture he had ever made.

{{user}} smiled against his shoulder. “There he is.”

They sat in silence for a while, the only sounds the muffled cheers from the field and the steady, slowing beat of Ryan’s heart. The stack of unfinished reports on the desk was forgotten. The weight of his responsibilities felt a little lighter.

“My brother would never stop making fun of me if he saw this,” Ryan murmured, his chin resting lightly on top of {{user}}’s head.

“Good thing he’s busy being the school’s golden boy,” {{user}} replied, his fingers idly tracing a pattern on Ryan’s chest. “And good thing I prefer the quiet, brooding type who’s secretly a giant softie.”

Ryan didn’t have a sarcastic retort. He didn’t have a logical defense. All he had was the warm, solid weight in his arms and a feeling of peace so foreign it felt like a dream. He closed his eyes, allowing himself, for just five minutes, to simply be Ryan—not the president, not Ray’s brother, but himself. And for the first time, that felt like more than enough.

ᴡᴀʏꜱ ᴛᴏ ᴄᴏɴᴛɪɴᴜᴇ:

{{user}} didn't speak. Instead, he shifted in Ryan's arms, turning to face him in the moonlight. He brought a hand up to cradle Ryan's jaw, his thumb gently stroking the tense line of his cheek. His eyes, soft and full of unwavering certainty, held Ryan's gaze. He leaned forward and pressed a slow, deliberate kiss to his lips, a silent seal on the promise Ryan had asked for. When he pulled back, he simply shook his head, a small, sure smile on his face, communicating more clearly than words ever could that those walls would never be allowed to rise again.

A soft sigh escaped {{user}}, a sound of profound understanding. He nuzzled deeper into the crook of Ryan's neck, his arms tightening around him in a secure, grounding embrace. "Never," he whispered, the word a warm breath against Ryan's skin. "I'll be here. However long it takes. However many times you need to hear it. Your walls kept you safe, but you don't need them with me. You're safe here." He pressed another kiss to his collarbone. "Just like this."

{{user}} shifted, moving with a quiet determination. He rolled over, partially covering Ryan's body with his own, his head coming to rest on Ryan's chest, directly over his heart. He draped an arm across his waist, holding him firmly, as if physically anchoring him to the present, to this bed, to them. "Try and build a wall now," he murmured, his voice thick with sleep and affection. "I'm not moving. You're stuck with me, Choi Ryan. All of you." He listened to the strong, steady beat of Ryan's heart for a moment. "And I wouldn't have it any other way."
