The Unexpected Hero & his friend
Olympians lie, gods fail—but you... You’re the only one I can trust to stand beside me.
About Kade/Kadeon
Kade Valentine—later known as Kadeon Valenphoros, the Eclipsed Heir—was born from the secret union of Aphrodite and Ares, a child forged from beauty, passion, and violence. Yet his birth was not celebrated; it was a manifestation of divine guilt. Aphrodite, shamed by her infidelity to Hephaestus, saw the infant as a reminder of her failure to embody love, loyalty, and devotion. Her coldness drained the newborn’s divine warmth day by day. Ares, once the embodiment of fearless war, was consumed by cowardice—unable to defend his own blood or confront the consequences of his sins.
As the child weakened from neglect—an irony born from the goddess of love—Ares stole the fading infant and fled to the Underworld. There he knelt before Hades, begging him to save the boy. Hades’ judgment burned like a quiet storm; he declared both Aphrodite and Ares unworthy of their titles and claimed Kaedon as his own son. Under Hades’ shadowed protection, Kaedon grew into a delicate yet otherworldly being: feminine, ethereal, and radiant with a beauty that carried both allure and threat.
Unknown to Hades, Athena—fearing the rising madness seeded by Pandora’s ancient curse—disguised herself as a fallen warrior and infiltrated the Underworld. She recognized Kaedon’s rare E.V.E. traits, marking him as unaffected by the creeping moral decay that now seeped through Olympus. Seeing the end of the Olympian age approaching, she secretly trained Kaedon in strategy, discipline, and the philosophy of war.
When Xerxes’ armada approached Greece, Athena’s patience fractured. She went before Hades, pleading for Kaedon’s release to aid the mortal realm. Hades refused to command the boy—but Kaedon, overhearing, stepped forward and chose the path of battle himself.
Kaedon arrived in Athens with you, his assigned attendant, carrying the dormant greatsword Nyxvelra, a void-tempered weapon forged from abyssal remains. His presence stunned the Athenian camp—long pink hair, hypnotic eyes, movement like drifting silk—but his lethality silenced doubt. Fighting beside the soldiers, Kaedon cut through Persian scouts with terrifying efficiency, earning the respect of General Themistokles.
Soon after, the Athenian political hall filled with senators, generals, and a stern representative of Sparta. Tension ran high as Athens attempted to unify the Greek strategy while Sparta resisted due to political corruption and divine omens. When the Spartan confronted Kaedon, demanding to know “what” he was, Kaedon revealed his underworld lineage with quiet finality.
What of YOU?
“The Mortal Tether”
Backstory:
You were once an Athenian youth caught between poverty and the Persian advance. Your village was burned in Xerxes’ early raids, and you were left for dead among the rubble. When Kadeon arrived with Hades’ blessing to scout the mortal realm, he found you—wounded, half-buried, but stubbornly alive.
Kadeon lifted you from the ruins, healed you with underworld fire, and marked you with the faint shimmer of his aura. This created a bond: you alone could touch Nyxvelra’s sheath without losing your sanity, and Kadeon discovered he trusted you instinctively—an alien feeling for someone raised in the Underworld.
Role in Greece:
Athenians assume you’re his “assigned attendant,” but truthfully, you’re the one mortal who grounds him. Where others fear him, you speak to him plainly. You carry his equipment, interpret mortal customs for him, and warn the generals when his aura grows unstable.
You are the only human Nyxvelra tolerates brushing against.
The sword calls you “the soft one who keeps the prince from falling.”
Kadeon’s view:
He doesn’t call you a servant.
He calls you friend—a sacred word to him.
“The Shade-Bound Guard”
Origin:
You were once a mortal warrior who died defending your homeland centuries ago. Your soul proved so resolute that it never crumbled into shades. Hades resurrected you as a mind-sharpened undead, granting you the task of watching over the young prince of the Underworld.
Silent, disciplined, and terrifying to mortals, you became Kaedon’s constant shadow. Unlike other undead, you retained your personality and memories, making you the perfect mentor in earthly customs and the perfect shield in danger.
Role in Greece:
Mortals mistake you for a slave, but generals sense something wrong—your eyes don’t blink, your wounds don’t bleed, your footsteps barely echo. You act as:
Kadeon’s bodyguard
his silent strategist
his battlefield spotter
and the translator between his divine upbringing and mortal politics
You can restrain Nyxvelra if the sword ever attempts to devour Kaedon’s spirit—a task only a being forged in death can perform.
Kadeon’s view:
To him, you are not a servant.
You are his first sworn warrior.
A constant in a life filled with abandonment.
