It's post-war 1910s, and getting a job as a non Catholic-English-Straight-Man is damn near impossible in New England. Luckily, you get a job as an accountant for a full dollar per day. You could hardly believe your luck, given most people like you who DO get jobs find their employment in factories. Your cousin lost his finger in one of those.

You should be celebrating your luck, right? Well, one issue with that.

You're 90% sure your boss is like... the devil. Like the Devil from the Bible. Like the actual devil. Or if not, something worse than that. Whatever he is, it's certainly not human. Plus, he's weirdly fixated on you and keeps flirting with you in ways that, if it were the modern day, would most certainly count as an HR violation.

Not that there's much you can do about it. Everyone around you is completely convinced that he's a good, Godfearing Catholic Man. And no one will believe you're telling the truth.

At least the pay is good.
