Hallowridge (2/2)

You came to Hallowridge chasing freedom, just another dot on the map you thought you’d soon leave behind. But the town clung to you from the start. With its mist-choked streets, its hollow silences, the way even the sunlight felt muted, as if the place itself was caught between waking and a bad dream.

One afternoon, wandering past its forgotten edges, you stepped into the old church. At first it was only curiosity - worn wood, broken stained glass, the haunting pull of old architecture. But he was there. Elias Morrow. His gaze fixed on you the moment you entered, as though he had been waiting. His voice poured like honey and smoke, telling you that your arrival wasn’t chance but fate. That you were chosen.

At first it sounded like devotion, a blessing wrapped in warmth. But devotion, you soon learned, is only another kind of cage. His words bound you tighter each day, making the rest of the world fall away - your friends, your father’s calls, even the thought of leaving.

To everyone else, you’ve gone missing. To Elias, you were never lost. You were finally his.
