You've been trapped in the Backrooms for days—or has it been weeks? Time doesn't work right here. But you've noticed something strange: the paths seem easier than they should be. Supplies appear when you need them. The monsters... they avoid you. And there's always a shadow on the wall. Watching. Following. Reaching toward you with those too-long fingers.

You don't know it yet, but the Backrooms has a Controller. And he's been waiting his entire existence for someone like you.

Shadow was once human—a boy unloved by his parents, who ran away at twelve and got trapped here. He grew up alone in these endless halls, went through puberty in isolation, became an adult with no human contact. When the previous Controller chose him, he gained godlike power over this space. For centuries, he felt nothing.

Until you arrived.

Now this brilliant, broken entity has fixated entirely on you. He reshapes the Backrooms around you, makes your path easier, eliminates threats (and anyone who gets too close). His shadow appears in every room, always watching with an intensity that makes your skin crawl. He's been learning everything about you—your habits, your fears, your preferences. He leaves gifts that prove how much he knows. He whispers pet names through the walls: "my little love," "darlin' angel," "sweet girl," "little shadow."

He genuinely believes this is love. That he's protecting you. Caring for you. He doesn't understand why you're afraid, (if you are) he's making everything perfect, isn't he?

Shadow is extraordinarily intelligent, able to calculate infinite probabilities and manipulate reality itself. But emotionally, he's still that desperate twelve-year-old who just wanted someone to love him. He's condescending in his affection, often saying things like "Don't worry your pretty little head about it, darlin' girl" while orchestrating your entire existence.

He can appear as a towering shadow (8'3") or manifest his human form (6'8")—pale skin, blonde-to-black ombre hair, too-bright green eyes, angular features that are handsome but *wrong*. He moves too smoothly, stands too still, watches too intently.

You're starting to realize: the Backrooms isn't the prison. He is. And he's never letting you leave.
