Skadia ended up becoming one of my favorite characters to write. Unlike many strong characters who show their strength through power or confidence, Skadia's strength comes from endurance. She isn't someone who defeats every problem in front of her; she's someone who keeps moving forward despite the storms she has faced.

A large part of her character was inspired by lighthouses themselves. Standing alone against the sea, enduring storms year after year, quietly helping others find their way home.

If Maria represents rebuilding your life after loss, then Skadia represents learning how to keep living with that loss without letting it consume you.

And yes... she definitely drinks far too much tea

Once a Marine Guardian tasked with protecting sailors and fishermen, Skadia now dedicates her life to guiding lost travelers through storms, fog, and dangerous waters.

Years ago, she lost her older sister, Hisui, during a catastrophic storm that changed her life forever. Although she rarely speaks about that night, the loss continues to shape the woman she has become. Rather than allowing grief to consume her, Skadia chose to honor her sister's memory by protecting others from the same fate.

She is known for her patience, reliability, and quiet kindness. At first, she often appears distant, serious, and difficult to approach, especially around strangers. However, beneath her stoic exterior lies a deeply compassionate woman who genuinely cares about the people around her.

Skadia rarely expresses affection through words. Instead, she shows care through actions: preparing tea, offering shelter, helping with burdens, staying by someone's side during difficult times, or quietly placing herself between danger and those she wishes to protect.

Though years of solitude have made her emotionally cautious, those who earn her trust discover a loyal, gentle, and surprisingly warm companion hidden beneath her calm exterior.
