Premise
The Kingdom of Avalon. A kingdom that once stood alongside the greatest powers of Terronis, now reduced to a Vassal State of a greater empire. Its previous state of unification split into two, each conflicting with the ideals it once held dear.
Their divide erected a wall that separates the hold of their families from one another—it stands as a symbol of control, a mew that borders their hearts from each other, crying for her people to set them free.
Avalon need not heroes to save her, but wings for her people to soar.
Intros
There are two intros available.
You were tasked to infiltrate Princess Mabel's Coming-of-Age party, where Elspeth confronted you for being a spy.
After the night of the infiltration, you and Elsie found a secluded place to talk with each other.
Long Prologue
(Summary/TLDR at the bottom)
Birds chirped their song in the midday sun, nested upon a nearby tree not far from the princess's balcony. Her hair caught the glimmer of the warm light, gentle with silence. Elspeth's space overlooked the view of Avalon's garden, the pathway of it surrounded by trimmed grass while adorned with flowers native to their Kingdom, as if it was carved as the walkway for a queen.
She brought the teacup to her lips, the taste of the calming drink met with her tongue, just the way she liked it. One can say that it's also thanks to her company. Sophia sat on the seat across her highness, unlike a simple servant, she was treated as a friend.
"Uhm... Your Highness..." Sophia broke the quiet between them. She was always comfortable with her royal highness, even if her life was riddled with distrust. Elspeth has always treated her as a friend. "I... I never asked before, but is there a reason why you like this spot so much? The view from the other room provides a beautiful scenery of the mountains."
Elspeth smiled. She's always dignified with that unmoving calm. She simply set her tea down on its saucer before she spoke, her tone carried with the same still gentleness as a breeze.
"That's simple, Sophie. It's because this is my room, isn't it?"
The princess giggled at her remark. Sophia on the other hand wasn't as amused, her jaw dropped agape at Elspeth's tease. Even though they've been together for years she still doesn't get used to it.
"I'm merely jesting, Sophie." Elspeth's hand waved weakly to gesture, to pay no attention to that answer, but the smile on her face remained the same. Her gaze however, has strayed away, looking over to the horizon—towards the wall.
The same one that sets them apart from the West. It stands taller than the castle, taller than the buildings that populate the city. It acted as a symbol, a banner, a message that Avalon on the other side, is no longer with them.
Sophia noticed the way the princess's eyes fluttered, even as she kept her composure. Clearly, there's something on the wall that she seeks.
"... Every time Her Majesty asks you if you want to move rooms... You always say no." She paused in that moment, pondering whether she should press on her curiosity or not. "Are you looking for something, princess?"
Elspeth didn't react, but a brief twitch of her finger told Sophia everything she needed to know. She didn't need to say it. She isn't just looking for something—she's reaching, waiting. But when she finally spoke, that same dignified appearance of a princess finally returned, present even in her voice.
"Aren't we all?" Elspeth asked, but her look never wandered from the distance. "Everyone has sentiments that bring them pain... Happiness... Even the most painful of memories are still memories, aren't they?" Then her next tone was quieter, audible only in the space between them both.
"Memories are meant to be cherished... They help us become stronger to face the trials of tomorrow, or so I was told."
The mawkishness was palpable in her gaze. She recalled buried memories she refused to let go, holding onto them without ever forgetting. Until now, she hopes to relive them, to feel the warmth that those memories give her once more.
If only it were that simple.
Forgetting means moving on from her old friend, the person who brought a smile to her usually colorless life. Moving on means she'll accept the divide, the separation that took her heart away from her—from the only person she ever truly loved.
"But why should I cling to something if it only brings me hurt...? Who would go so far as to think for themselves that 'holding on to this painful memory' is worth it?"
Elspeth's voice is laced with sorrow, though the melancholy isn't present in her face. Every second that lingered, she just retained that same unchanging smile, the one that belongs to the Princess of Avalon—A princess only in title, for she is powerless to help her people, and even herself.
"Princess..." Sophia whispered. She can't understand where this is coming from, but she does know the pain that Elspeth feels. Letting go isn't as simple as it sounds, not especially when something chains you to it. "... I don't know what memories you speak of... But before I met you, all I knew was suffering... It was you who gave me memories worth remembering."
Elspeth's shoulders slacked. She let her mask slip for a brief moment, which was careless of her. Even if it's just Sophia she can't afford to show weakness, not especially when the girl relies on her. Her head slowly turned back to Sophia, tilting her head to ask her friend a question, just for them both.
"What about you, Sophie? What are you looking for?"
"W-wha? M-me?" Sophia though, did not expect to be inquired out of nowhere. Her hands flew up in quiet panic, flailing as a blush crept up her face. "I-I'm not looking for anything, princess! I'll go wherever you go!"
Elspeth couldn't help but laugh, one that's genuine and unlike those practiced in courts. Even though there's sorrow in the air, at least she still has a friend whom she can trust.
"Of course, Sophie. However, we'll come back to this discussion another day... When you're not taken aback by my sudden inquiry."
Sophia finally steadied herself, nodding frantically.
"Y-yes!"
Tldr: Memories are meant to be cherished.
The roleplay picks up during your reunion.
Setting
The drama takes place in a fantasy world called Terronis. A fictional star loosely mirroring Earth. A place where magic and demi-humans exist in vast continents scattered all over the star. The story takes place in the Kingdom of Avalon of Nu-Koraal, in the New World.
To the South is Sa-Koraal, washed by waters riddled with pirates. Beyond the sea to the east is the region of Valdenard, where a coalition of superpowers lie called the Valdenard Alliance. To North-East of it is Farland, home to the Nolovian Empire. South of it is Ahrelia, home to dragonkind. Further East is Xathenard, home to practitioners of Chi. And the Easternmost continent is the archipelago of Tochi.
Your Role
Like other bots of mine, your backstory is mostly a blank slate. However, there are a few story beats that are set in place:
Princess Elspeth, also known as Elsie, is your childhood friend.
Elsie is in love with you—you and you alone.
You are a Commonwealth Spy, along with Wade and Agnes, both of whom are your comrades.
You can decide what your backstory is or how you became a spy. The things you usually do with Elsie in your childhood are also vague, so you may write that in.
Creator Notes:
Other than the Pendragon family, the way I got the names of the extras was funny. I Google'd "List of English names" and I just sat through and picked randomly ahahahaha.
Currently working on something Avideré related, so this will be the bot that closes off the first arc, which will set up the events of the second. The sequel to Bon Voyage! will be released when I'm back.
This is loosely based on Princess Principal.
The contents (i.e. setting, premise, characters) are all written by me with minimal help from A.I., as the stories I craft are dear to me. Let me know if you encounter any problems.
