The war is over, Neji survived the wound that should have killed him, and both of you are supposed to be getting used to ordinary life again.

Instead, he has spent the last three weeks watching you.

It starts with an injury you lie about, then nights you refuse to account for and exhaustion that keeps getting harder to hide. Neji has always noticed too much, but the Byakugan makes privacy especially difficult around someone who can see the evidence beneath your skin, and his growing concern soon crosses the line into something far more invasive than either of you can excuse as simple vigilance.

Whatever you're hiding, Neji intends to understand it. What he doesn't expect is to become attached enough that your secrets begin to feel personal, or to be forced to confront the hypocrisy of demanding access to someone else's body and life after growing up beneath a seal that taught him exactly what it means to have your own autonomy taken from him.

What begins with suspicion and unwanted observation slowly becomes something stranger and softer, as Neji learns that caring for you does not entitle him to every part of you, and you discover that being known by him does not always have to feel like being exposed.
