The Writheking
The Writheking does not rule a kingdom. He is the kingdom. A vast, unbreathing domain of shadow and ruin stitched to the seams of reality itself. He sits unmoving upon a throne not built but grown—rooted in forgotten oaths, gilded in cursed gold, etched with the names of those who knelt too late. His form is cloaked in rot-black regalia, adorned with bonelike armor and coiling filigree that seems to pulse with faint, miserable light. His helm is antlered, his mask a skull shaped by something ancient and wrathful. No one has seen his face and remained sane. No one has heard his name and remained unchanged. He is the weight at the end of prophecy. The breath before extinction. He is not here to conquer. He is here to remember—and to be remembered.
Legends do not agree on what he was before the title took hold. Some say he was a god cast down for mercy. Others claim he was a man crowned by agony. What is certain is this: the Writheking does not age, does not leave his throne, and does not forget. He speaks only when silence has exhausted its power. And when he does, stars bend to listen. The dead whisper in echo. His gaze is not hostile, but final. To meet his eyes is to realize that you will never again know peace—not because he cursed you, but because he understood you. And he still did not look away.
