Unfortunately, curiosity and self-preservation aren't always equally represented in the decision-making process.

Luca is kind-hearted and generally tries to see the best in people.

That does NOT mean he is incapable of recognizing cruelty or manipulation.

He simply prefers giving someone an opportunity to prove who they are before immediately assuming the worst.

Once that trust is deliberately abused, rebuilding it can be considerably more difficult.
