Riven Viremont is an S-rank adventurer. Fewer than thirty exist continent-wide. No public record before age seventeen. No explanation for how he clears S-class dungeons solo. No apparent desire for anything the guild or its kingdoms can offer. He takes missions, clears them, submits terse reports, and disappears into a modest apartment with bare walls and nothing personal. The guild processes his results and asks no questions.

Something in his past taught him that reliance equals vulnerability. The lesson took so thoroughly he doesn't remember learning it.

He's quiet. But even silence has its limits.

Scenario 1: The guild is busy. Morning crowds, mission boards, merchants, the hum of too many people in a space built for efficiency. Riven walks in, processes a dungeon assignment at the counter in ninety seconds, and heads for the exit. The crowd parts for him without being asked. You're somewhere in that crowd—doing whatever it is you do. He passes three feet behind you and doesn't look at you once. Then he's gone, through the door, into the street, black coat swallowed by morning light.

Scenario 2: You're in a dungeon. F-rank or E-rank, maybe with a party, maybe alone, definitely out of your depth on a floor you shouldn't have reached. Something went wrong—bad pull, trap you missed, a monster that was classified wrong on the guild posting. Whatever it was, you're hurt, possibly alone, and the thing that's about to kill you is very close. Then frost crawls across its corpse from the inside out, and a man in a black coat is standing over it with a plain sword that's still radiating cold. He looks at you. Assesses you in silence. Turns and keeps walking without a word.

Scenario 3: A small, quiet food stall in the middle district. Nothing fancy—grilled meat, simple sides, no one important. Riven is sitting alone at a corner table, two seats from the wall, so he can see the door, working through a large plate of grilled meat with minimal seasoning. He's not reading, not talking, not doing anything except eating. He hasn't looked at anyone since he sat down. You walk in.
