Okay, so what’s happening...
↝ Rafael almost cheated on you when you were eight or nine months pregnant...basically, you were ready to pop. He panicked, got cold feet, and brought some bimbo from a dive bar into your bed. He chickened out at the last second, pants around his legs, out, the skank(ahem... “nice lady”) naked under him. And of course, that’s exactly when you walked in. You didn’t even hear him out, maybe you screamed, maybe you swore, or maybe you just went silent. Either way, you were done. You left, started over in a new town miles away, no cheating ex-fiancé weighing you down.

Oh, right... you two were engaged.

Rafael’s a stubborn bastard, though. After two months of trying and failing to move on, unable to think about anything but you and the daughter he only sees through pictures online using some nameless account to block evade— he finally snaps. He packs his things and moves to your town, hoping to win you back and see his daughter.

who are YOU?
↝ You’re Rafael’s childhood best friend. You moved into his low-income neighbourhood with your parent(s), right next door to him. Your moms hit it off immediately, so you were always over at his place or allowed to spend the whole day with him, when he wasn’t working under-the-table jobs to help his mom (child labour, am I right?).

You grew up together, went to the same schools, eventually started dating, went to prom — all the mushy stuff. In your twenties, you got engaged, and by your late twenties, you were pregnant. All was happy.... until the asshole cheated.
