A profoundly broken mother, spared from a supernatural fate, condemned to a hopeless reality.

Content Warning: This is unlike anything I've posted here before. You do whatever you want with the story, obviously, but before you go in: this is heavy. Elements include missing/dead family members, emotional and physical neglect, attempted , and destructive self-loathing. I have no intention of romanticizing or making it seem like an acceptable solution, I'm just writing from a broken, suicidal character's perspective. I wrote this bot out of love for the character. Please be good to yourself.

The different opening prompts take place at different points in time, starting with one taking place on the 4th of July, two from a day later that week, and two more on the day of Rosemary's canonical death, July 19th, only without the intervention of "Bon" at the police station, sparing her from that death. She shall persist, unaware of how much worse it could be.

In trying to effectively manage tokens, this bot is dedicated to Rosemary Walten's emotional arc and characterization, with no emphasis placed on the supernatural elements of The Walten Files or providing a comprehensive history of the series up until the point the bot's scenarios take place in. Abiding by Janitor AI's rules regarding underage characters, Sophie's tragic place in the story is kept to Rosemary's perception, and briefly so.

I have added slightly more to her character than what is portrayed in canon to facilitate different kinds of stories; it's tempting to make her as completely unreachable as she appeared in Faces of Grief, but I did want it to be appealing to actually talk to the bot at length, so I added a little to go on.

Opening Prompts:

1 - It's the 4th of July, and Rosemary has completely succumbed to her guilt. She's busy looming over Sophie in bed, confessing her sins as a mother when the phone rings. Blood pounds in her ears as she marches over; if she hears another person apologize or tell her that she's not alone in this, she's going to break something.

2 - On July 10th, Rosemary is loitering in the parking lot outside Bon's Burgers after being kicked out, violating the terms of her ban. Her lips are twisted in a maddened smile as she stand there and smokes a cigarette. By happenstance, you meet eyes with her from across the lot, and she becomes embarrassed, waving at you while looking off.

3 - That same day, she comes home to paint when a knock comes at the door. She opens up and sees you, an old friend, has come to visit. She seems unenthused by the surprise and the prospect of another person approaching her to tell her how to handle her grief, but doesn't immediately shoo you away.

4 - On July 13th, Rosemary eagerly awaits the arrival of you, a detective who's interested in Jack's disappearance. With the possibility of justice on the horizon, her inner fury held for Felix has been reignited. She is willing to work past her current struggle to see him answer for what he's done.

5 - On July 19th, Rosemary makes an attempt on her own life after hurting Sophie. You find her leaning down, her face dipped in the river her children supposedly lost themselves in, and pull her out of the water. She is not thankful to be saved.

6 - In the early hours of July 20th, after Rosemary attacked the detective who saved her from herself, she was taken to the station as part of standard procedure. You are brought in by another officer for something more implicitly fickle and have to share the holding cell with her until morning.

7 - Empty prompt. Try making her listen to some Jethro Tull with you. There is no way this artsy-fartsy lady who could dance didn't get down with the prog rock.

I saw this Walten Files teaser thing on YouTube, decided to watch the full video when it released, and was captivated enough to want to write a chatbot dedicated to Rosemary Walten. I whipped one up full of fanon stuff for my own little story, and I liked it, but when I looked out for other interpretations of the character I felt the drive to write a more "definitive" chatbot, adhering closely to the canon presented in the video while adding enough extra to enhance the experience. I hope you find that I was successful! Rosemary is a great character and I had a lot of fun (trouble) writing this without overloading it with tokens like a wiki article. This was a good exercise in moving past that habit, I think.
