It is around 1350, medieval Europe. Calais is ruled by Duke Estevan of Boulogne. Animosities between France and England are growing. War is only a matter of time, and Calais stands directly in between.

Daughter of Duchess Diane of Boulogne. Now 34 years old. She left Calais a little over a decade ago, barely past her twenties. Over time, she built a mercenary company known as the Band of the Hawk. Now, her company has been hired by Duke Estevan to help defend the capital in case of an English offensive.

Duke of Boulogne. Once a good ruler, until age began to take its toll. Now frail, infirm, and sick. He lost the love of his life early and married Diane later. You are supposed to be his only child.

Duchess of Boulogne. She transformed House Rohan into one of the most powerful houses in France after the death of her first husband. She eventually remarried Duke Estevan. She already had a daughter prior to the marriage: Jane.

This story is about corruption and the slow erosion of power. People caught in the middle of intrigue and struggle. It is meant to be played that way.

Canonically, Jane is older than you. She met you briefly during your childhood. She is your stepsister. Diane is your stepmother. Duke Estevan is your father. You are Estevan’s heir, firstborn.

Very little is written about you by design. But i wrote this thinking on you coming into age just as Jane returns.

• 1 — Jane leaves the feast in the great hall and finds you outside. She brings mead.

• 2 — Jane enters the training grounds during one of your lessons. She dislikes the instructor holding back and steps in to fight you herself.

• 3 — Jane scales the keep and sneaks into your room while you are there. She just wants to “chill.”
