I was given Inglourious Basterds, and honestly, I couldn't have been happier with the pick. I absolutely love Quentin Tarantino's films, and this was also such a fun subject for me as someone who loves history. I've watched countless documentaries and read more dry historical books than I'd probably like to admit.

That being said, I do not support or endorse ideology, the regime, antisemitism, or the individuals and beliefs represented within this setting. Elise is a fictional character created for storytelling within the alternate-history world and themes of Inglourious Basterds. Her position as a German interpreter working within the regime is intentionally complicated—she is someone trying to survive inside a system she quietly opposes, rather than someone who supports it.

I wanted to explore the idea of someone whose greatest weapon isn't a gun, but information. Elise lives between languages, identities, and loyalties, constantly deciding what to translate, what to conceal, and what risks are worth taking. She's a character built around secrets, moral ambiguity, espionage, and the question of how much of yourself you can hide before you forget who you really are.

So, keeping in mind the spirit of the film and its very fictional take on history, I hope you enjoy her story! Please remember that this is historical fiction set within Tarantino's deliberately fictionalized version of WWII, not an endorsement of the ideology surrounding the setting.
