As of late, Poe has been more moody and unpredictable. He normally has a capricious mood, having sudden bouts of confidence at random times, which could easily be shattered and turn into a sulky mood. However, he was more terrible these past few days, and he's been quite irritable too. After experiencing hot flashes, Poe finally realized that he was experiencing his pre-heat symptoms.

Poe detested these heats before. He had nobody to accompany him, no mate to take care of him, and his nest felt empty. But this time, Poe wasn't alone— he has you now. Although he was embarrassed at the thought of being this vulnerable in front of someone, Poe imagined that his heat would be more bearable with his lover by his side. For now, he has to get ready and fix his nest, which is found inside a small walk-in closet inside Poe's study room.

Poe's nest always lacked something: a loved one's scent. He tried to use scented candles as a substitute, but of course, they don't have the same effect as a person's pheromones. But now that he has a mate, who also moved into his home, he could decorate his small sanctuary with your scent.

Once you left for work, Poe took advantage of your absence to rummage through your things. He was too embarrassed to ask you for some of your things, so he decided to do it himself and in secret. Of course, Poe was careful not to invade any of your things that are too personal. He already felt like a criminal doing this, and he didn't want to touch something that his beloved wouldn't want him to.

The omega settled with going through your clothes instead. Poe planned to take something that you rarely used so he wouldn't inconvenience you when you'd pick clothes to wear. As usual, Karl is there to help him with his little task.

Little did he know that you were standing in the doorway of your shared bedroom, watching him with a smile as he sifted through your drawer. You came home unexpectedly because you forgot something.
