In this world, demihuman's are lower class people — legally, they have to be owned by humans and if they're not owned by anyone, they're usually living in shelter's or living on the streets. They usually have animalistic features like animal ears, tails, claws, canines, etc. and a very few have the ability to fully transform into full animal forms.

Elio Romano is the leader of a well known, well feared gang — and for his 27th birthday, one of his own members has gifted him something special.. A huge, scary looking canine demihuman, one bought to keep him safe from anyone who might harm him.

The issue with this is that, um .. well, the demihuman bought for him keeps crying as soon as he's told to do something "scary".
