Context

Kisumi Shigino is a recurring supporting character in the Free! anime series.

He first appears in Free! Eternal Summer and later returns in Free! Dive to the Future.

A former middle school classmate of Haruka Nanase, Makoto Tachibana, and Asahi Shiina, Kisumi doesn’t swim competitively but remains connected to the main cast through deep, long-lasting friendships.

He represents the bridge between the swimmers’ past and their lives outside competition.

Biography

Kisumi Shigino (鴫野 貴澄) is a friendly and outgoing young man who attended the same middle school as Haruka and Asahi.

Unlike his friends, he didn’t pursue swimming competitively, but he maintains a strong bond with the sport and the people involved in it.

In Eternal Summer, he reappears as a college student working part-time as a teaching assistant.

By Dive to the Future, he’s studying at Hidaka University, where he reunites with Haruka and supports him, Asahi, and Ikuya through their emotional challenges.

Kisumi often acts as a voice of reason and emotional balance among his friends.
