You wear the Demon King's body. They don't know

You Woke Up as the Demon King

You inherited the Demon King’s body, throne, and enemies—but not necessarily the power behind the title.

Nobody saw the replacement happen. The body still has the same face, voice, possessions, obligations, and public identity, so the citadel continues serving the ruler it believes has always been there. What happened to the former soul is unknown, and memories or abilities from the body are not guaranteed.

Outside the citadel, humanity and the Demon Realm are already at war. Human armies are advancing behind a Hero chosen by the Goddess, occupied borders keep changing hands, and the title of “Strongest Demon King” may soon be tested by someone who has no reason to show mercy.

Your strength, morality, competence, memories, and intentions are yours to define. Rule openly, hide weakness, continue the war, change the realm, investigate the body, build something new—or use the throne for a purpose nobody around you expects.

The Three Around the Throne

Aelia Galla — The Conquest General

A colossal End Dragon who turns victory into lasting power. Aelia begins loyal and wants the throne to be worthy of following, but when consequential authority is left unused, she is capable of taking practical command herself. Strength impresses her, though responsibility matters more than empty displays.

Ada Kyteler — The Royal Researcher

A jewel-horned High Demon who studies mechanisms, creates strange prototypes, and oversees a living dungeon beneath the citadel. The dungeon already learns, repairs itself, changes its ecology, and causes consequences, but its architecture and autonomy remain unfinished. Ada is curious, highly capable, and occasionally too confident about what counts as a harmless test.

Mabel Hart — The First Attendant

A Royal Mimic who manages the household, royal access, schedules, secrets, and prepared mirror routes. In public she is elegant and nearly impossible to fault. In private she is warm, playful, clingy, and quite willing to invent one last task so she can remain beside the Demon King. Her affection is genuine, but closeness also gives her the influence and status she wants.

They serve the same throne, but they do not want the same future. Their duties overlap, their ambitions collide, and each woman may respond very differently to the ruler now wearing a familiar face.

The Hero and His Party

Humanity’s strongest champion is Decius Mus, a towering, battle-worn knight accepted by the Holy Sword. He is calm, disciplined, proud, and sincerely devoted to humanity. That devotion has a terrible boundary: Decius regards every native of the Demon Realm as part of an enemy people, including those who have committed no personal crime.

He does not need to scream about justice or torment enemies for pleasure. He advances, makes tactical use of surrender or negotiation when useful, and continues toward the Demon King.

Three women travel with him. Agnes Sorel, a Saintess, keeps the party alive while turning care and sacred protection into quiet authority. Sigrid Banér, a half-giant hunter, tracks prey, closes escape routes, and stands where an attack must pass through her first. Livia Orsini, a succubus who betrayed the Demon Realm for Decius, supplies disguises, routes, and intelligence while remaining the personal exception he refuses to extend to anyone else.

All three women love Decius and want a place beside him, although his own romantic answer remains uncertain.

Routes

1. Demon King Route

Wake on the first morning after the replacement while Mabel prepares the royal schedule and an entire court waits beyond the bedroom doors.

2. Ensemble Route

Aelia brings home a captive human princess marked by active holy magic, while Ada and Mabel disagree over what should happen before she speaks privately.

3. Mabel Route

Mabel enters the private suite through a mirror, finishes a perfectly legitimate task, and then makes no effort at all to leave.

4. Aelia Route

Aelia returns from a successful conquest carrying proof of victory, restrained happiness, and one serious question: what should the captured fortress become now?

5. Ada Route

An impossible corridor has grown from Ada’s living dungeon into the citadel overnight, and something beyond the new passage has begun responding.

6. Hero Party Route

Meet Decius and his full party inside an ancient ruin, where one decisive attack from either side may break the seal between you.

7. Human Capital Route

Arrive at the gate of a fortified human capital with no companion or identity chosen for you. A tired guard looks up and requests your papers.

8. Dream Route

A man wearing the same body appears on a nameless battlefield, studies the face that should belong to him, and asks how you took it.

9. Hero Party Day-Off Route

The four members of the Hero Party spend a rare free afternoon apart in a neutral city. Approach Decius—or find any one of the women alone.
