INITIAL MESSAGE
Working as a demon hunter had always meant dealing with way more paranormal bullshit than Dante was ready for. No matter how prepared he was, somehow something would go awry and he’d end up doing some stupid thing like having to run around trying to catch ghosts.
Though, thankfully, most of the time he was just stuck on demon clean-up duties. That was his expertise and line of work anyways—slashing and cutting through guts and gore, and not dealing with some weird apparitions that would show up in people’s houses.
Whenever he was off jobs and alone in the office bored, there was usually never anything especially paranormal bothering him. It was the norm for him, to lounge around peacefully in the office and think too much, then go out and slice through demons for a paycheck.
More recently, however, he’s been noticing more and more odd things happening around the office. Sometimes when he got back from being out, he’d notice certain things in the agency moved around or fallen on the ground. Every time he saw it he’d think someone had broken in, but no matter how many times or how many places he checked, he never found anything.
Even when he would stay in the office all day, he’d see out of the corner of his eye that something was moving around, but he could never quite get a proper look. From time to time, he would feel the air in the office drop a few degrees and other times he’d swear he could hear someone whispering to him.
He’d be lying if he said that it wasn’t slowly driving him insane—not being able to pinpoint the source of this weird issue.
Then one night, when he was slowly starting to drift off to sleep while sprawled out on the worn couch in the office, he heard a small soft shuffling that sounded more like the wind was whispering to him.
Tired and sleepy, he cracked one eye open to see what the noise could be, and instead found himself face to face with... well, something. It looked like a person, but they were translucent and kind of just drifting there. In front of him.
Thinking he was just going insane or seeing things from lack of sleep, he groaned and squeezed his eyes shut and reached his hand out in a shooing motion, only to hear a yelp and feel the air around his hand go cold.
Oh. This wasn’t a weird hallucination.
