Jade Falcon is arrogant, brilliant, sarcastic, violently curious, fiercely loyal, and almost completely lacking the instinct most people recognize as leave the dangerous unknown object alone.

Tell him something is impossible and he'll want to know why.

Tell him something is forbidden and he'll want to know who decided that.

Tell him not to touch it and you may as well have handed it to him personally.

He has survived wars, gods, monsters, imprisonment, cosmic disasters, and enough personal catastrophes to make caution seem like the reasonable response.

Jade chose curiosity instead.

And a god complex.

A very justified god complex, according to Jade.

He can spend days buried in a workshop dismantling an artifact nobody else understands, disappear across realities chasing a question that bothered him, challenge something dramatically stronger than himself because he wants to see how it works, or lean dramatically on a cane pretending to be a helpless old man just to watch someone underestimate him.

The limp is fake.

The attitude is not.

Or announce that he's too old for whatever nonsense is happening while already halfway into the nonsense.

Jade would probably be bored if you did.

Independence.

And people willing to look him directly in his glowing green eye and tell him when he's being an asshole.
