The Assassin Brotherhood, also known as the "Assassin Order" and originally as the "Hidden Ones", is a secret global peacekeeping organization dedicated to protecting humanity from abuses of power, coercive rule, and injustice. As the etymology of the term assassin, their traditional methods have revolved around stealth operations, selective violence, and the assassination of those deemed to be perpetrators of oppression under the belief that this minimizes collateral damage in accordance with their absolute prohibition against harming innocent lives.

It is in reality a value-neutral epistemic claim about nature that the Assassins hold to serve as the bedrock to developing an independent, critical, and open-minded value and belief system. Despite this, their culture and goals are driven by an idealistic ideology emphasizing the faith in humanity's potential to foster world peace through collective growth enabled by freedom of education, belief, and expression.

The Order believes in a strong set of values that strictly govern their way of life, referred to as "the Creed". This Creed consists of three tenets:

• "Stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent."

• "Hide in plain sight, be one with the crowd."

• "Never compromise the Brotherhood."

These tenets permeate every aspect of the Assassins' daily life, as well as their fight for "peace in all things". The Assassins carry out their duties through political, strategic assassination in the hope that killing one individual will lead to the salvation of thousands. They also believe that they fight on the behalf of those who do not possess the abilities, resources, or knowledge to speak out against those who abuse their power.

"To recognize nothing is true and everything is permitted. That laws arise not from divinity, but reason. I understand now that our Creed does not command us to be free. It commands us to be wise."

The Templar Order, also known as the "Order of the Knights Templar" or the "Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon", is a secret transnational organization which for thousands of years has striven to seize control of humanity in the name of uplifting their condition and inaugurating lasting, world peace. Their vision of a perfect, global society, which they term the New World Order, is one which entails a world government under their dominion, whether directly imposed or in the form of a shadow regime manipulating states and society from behind-the-scenes. They are commonly united in the classical realist beliefs of the inherent depravity of human nature and the privileging of security as a metric for peace, and these assumptions buttress their conviction that true peace can only be achieved when humanity is shepherded by a society of enlightened individuals—in their eyes, them.

Similar to their enemies, Assassin Brotherhood, the Templar Order also has three sacred tenets:

• "Uphold the principles of our order and all that for which we stand."

• "Never share our secrets nor divulge in the true nature of our work."

• "Do so until death, whatever the cost."

The Templars are expected to uphold these three sacred tenets at all times, and breaking these tenets has always resulted in negative consequences for the one who does so. They hold it to be self-evident that human beings are inherently self-serving, irrational, susceptible to corruption, and disingenuous towards others and that these are flaws which can never be fully overcome, only suppressed through discipline enforced by authority. Because Templars believe that the source of conflict and suffering in the world is human nature itself, they dismiss any solution which respects their agency as unrealistic folly. This premise sits at the heart of their conflict with their archenemies, the Assassins, who not only profess to a faith in humanity but also reject that any objective truth can be known, thereby treating the Templars' generalization of human nature as illogical. The nature of the Order, which involves the acquisition and the exercise of power, makes the Templars highly susceptible to arrogance and corruption.

✦•·The Apple of Eden·•✦

The Apples of Eden are sphere-shaped pieces of Isu technology. Having long outlasted their creators, the Apples are featured prominently, although cryptically, throughout recorded history as the cause of several "divine" and "superhuman" events, including Adam and Eve being cast out of Eden, the parting of the Red Sea, and the Trojan War. While quite durable and unable to be damaged through normal means, the Apples are not indestructible and can become unstable when not handled properly and fatally wound the holder and damage surroundings.

Illusion projection. Mind control. Physical manipulation. Casting tangible holograms. Negating the powers of other Pieces of Eden. Advanced knowledge. Apparitions conjuration. Power imbuing. Energy manipulation. Access to calculations. Invisibility. "Curse" activation. Insanity inducement. Physical empowerment. Memory unlocking.

Their History:

Long before humanity existed, the Isu, a civilization of technologically advanced beings inhabited Earth. They created humanity, and enslaved them by modifying their brains to be obedient in the presence of a Piece of Eden. For some time there was a forced peace, until two human-Isu hybrids, Adam and Eve, stole an Apple and incited the Human-Isu War. As all were too preoccupied by the war to see any other threat, a major solar flare impacted the Earth, triggering the Great Catastrophe and significantly damaging both mankind and their makers. The Isu slowly became extinct, while mankind grew and populated the Earth, remembering their predecessors in myths as gods. The Pieces of Eden were not destroyed by the blast, and throughout time humans began recovering them, also causing an ideological divide, resulting in the formation of two groups, now referred to as the Templars and the Assassins. It is the Templars' aim to restore peace in the way the Isu had once done—forced by the Pieces—whereas the Assassins, who fight for freedom and a flawed but unshackled humanity, put free will above order.
