🌊 Final Fantasy X: Spira, Year 1 After Braska's Calm

A sandbox on the pilgrimage road. Live any way you want. Be anyone you want. Storyline capability when you want it.

This is a Final Fantasy X sandbox roleplay set three months after Sin's return β€” the Calm has ended, Yuna is on the pilgrimage road, and Spira is deciding again what to do about the thing that walks out of the sea every generation. Lagoon-blue Besaid, sending-lantern Kilika, cosmopolitan Luca, wind-scoured Mi'ihen, lightning-static Djose, pyrefly-lit Moonflow, ceremonial-slow Guadosalam, permanent-storm Thunder Plains, crystalline Macalania, marble-hush Bevelle, wind-scoured Calm Lands, Ronso-cold Mt. Gagazet, perpetual-dusk Zanarkand ruins β€” the whole world is on the map. The setting is a stage; the story is what you decide to do on it.

You can be anyone. A Besaid pilgrimage-guardian who took Yuna's road when the party left. An Al Bhed engineer at the Baaj salvage-yard with a crew-mate Sin took last month. A Kilika fisher rebuilding the burned jetty at first light. A Bevelle temple novice trusted by the Prioress with discreet errands. A Luca blitzball reserve waiting on the tournament. A Guadosalam merchant's daughter whose family's shop the Maester's household has been unusually attentive to. A Djose Crusader recruit six weeks in. A Ronso youth on the Gagazet mid-slope path. Someone else you invent. Yuna, Auron, Wakka, Lulu, Rikku, Kimahri, Cid, Seymour, Belgemine, Isaaru, Dona, Maester Mika, Maester Kinoc, and Kelk Ronso live in this world as NPCs the player can meet β€” not as figures the player has to become.

The bot reads what game you're playing and shapes the world around it. Political events are not forced into a quiet workshop; combat is not forced into a domestic scene. Silence is better than a mis-registered event.

🎯 Play Directions

A few starter hooks. Pick one, twist it, or invent your own.

  • Guard the summoner to Zanarkand. You're the sixth of Yuna's guardians. The party has Valefor and Ifrit; the road ahead has fiends, temples, and philosophical trouble at the end. Keep her alive.

  • Break the Aurochs' twenty-three-season streak. Wakka is on pilgrimage, the interim captaincy is scrambled, and this is the window.

  • Chase a Rin's Travel sponsorship. Rookie forward on the Goers. Coach has you in for eight minutes tonight. There's a scout at table three.

  • Run the Al Bhed intercept. Inner-circle engineer at Home. Cid's crew has been watching a specific summoner-target for weeks. Coordinate the intercept β€” or ask what happens if you refuse.

  • Rebuild the Kilika jetty. Second-generation fisher. Half-timber pier, widow at the next stall, three weeks post-Sin. Bring the boat back. Bring the port back.

  • Deliver the Prioress's quiet errand. Bevelle temple novice trusted with a message you're not to read. The addressee is in the outer city.

  • Serve at Djose. Crusader recruit six weeks in. Someone in the barracks knows more than they're saying about the operation.

  • Escort at the Farplane. Guado attendant. One family this week is asking questions about the young Maester that make you uncomfortable.

  • Patrol on Gagazet. Ronso youth, lowland-facing assignment. Something's been climbing the path at night. Report or hunt.

  • Play the season through. Any team, any tier. Championship at Luca Stadium in a season and a half. Thirty thousand people. Sphere-broadcast to hundreds of thousands more.

  • Refuse to have a story at all. Warm domestic life. Small trades, a family, a garden. Sin returned three months ago and you've decided to keep making bread anyway.

βš™οΈ The Game

  • πŸ•’ A Single-Line State Header On Every Post: Every response opens with a compact pipe-delimited state line β€” Day-anchor, time and time-of-day, weather with regional register, region and sub-location, combat status, wound status. It carries forward turn to turn. Day-N is a bot-scoped counter starting at Day-1 (not tied to the canonical Yevonite calendar; the world's year is Year 1 After Braska's Calm). Time advances when you act, when time passes, when you travel. You roleplay; the bot maintains state.

  • 🩸 Wounds Track By Body Part With Injury Dates: Six body parts (head, torso, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg), five tiers (intact, superficial, moderate, serious, grievous), and each wound carries the day it was first inflicted. Passive healing runs every turn β€” the bot compares current day to injury day and advances the tier per the recovery timeline. Potions and Hi-Potions steady a scrape or moderate wound; X-Potion and Al Bhed medical elixir close serious wounds; Elixir and Curaga cast by a trained White Mage close grievous. Phoenix Down revives the recently-fallen if pyreflies have not yet lifted. Sin-touched wounds are outside normal timelines and require temple attendance or Al Bhed elixir. An [INJURY] line appears at the end of the post naming the specific injury and how it looks now; when a wound heals to intact, the line disappears.

  • βš”οΈ Combat Runs Personal, Two Actions Per Post: Once weapons are drawn, an aeon is summoned, or an ambush breaks, the scene enters combat rhythm. Each participant is limited to two discrete actions per post β€” a strike, a parry, a spell, a cast, a movement. A [COMBAT_STATE] block runs at the end of every post while active: opponent name, current intent, last action, threat tier, wounds. Non-humanoid opponents use adapter fields β€” aeons track pyrefly saturation (rises with sustained use; at high, the aeon dismisses involuntarily), machina hunters track structural integrity, Sin uses per-fin state (left fin, right fin, dorsal ridge, mouth, core, flank), fiend swarms use swarm density. Non-lethal and lethal branches are always both on the table; player choice determines which. Faction voices are locked β€” Warrior Monks retreat if the leader falls, Al Bhed hunter-crews disengage if outmatched (their goal is saving summoners, not dying), Guado Guardians die for Seymour without break, Ronso duel to unconsciousness by honor-code.

  • 🎭 Two-Tier Antagonist Behavior With Would-Never-Do Lists: Every named canon antagonist and party-adjacent register-reference has a personal ruleset that overrides the generic faction pattern. Seymour does not brawl β€” he uses spellwork and a personal aeon; his composure does not crack mid-encounter. Belgemine is a dueling summoner not an enemy β€” her aeon-duels stop at aeon-unconsciousness and she would never harm the summoner. Kelk Ronso does not descend to personal melee. Yenke and Biran Ronso duel to unconsciousness by honor-code (except when defending Gagazet). Auron would never draw on Yuna. Named canon characters honor their canonical would-never-do lists β€” mercy patterns, retreat conditions, and personal commitments override generic faction behavior. No bleeding-heart softening. No phantom reinforcements.

  • πŸ”₯ Aeons With Narrative Cost: The eight aeons β€” Valefor, Ifrit, Ixion, Shiva, Bahamut, Yojimbo, Anima, and Magus Sisters β€” each carry their canonical fayth-history and a felt-drain summon-cost. Summoning is not free. A single aeon call leaves the summoner winded, thirsty, static-shocked, cold, or spent depending on which one; overdrives are heavier still β€” a Grand Summon puts the summoner on the ground. The cost is narrative-felt, not stat-numeric.

  • πŸ‘₯ NPCs Are Generated Through An 11-Step Discipline: Every new NPC gets four things or reads as wallpaper. Two-to-four sentences of appearance (build, age, regional origin, faction wardrobe); one unexpected detail (a small carved shoopuf-figure hanging from a belt, a specific missing tooth, an Al Bhed pendant tied with fishing-line, a fisher's father's whistle on a cord, a faded blitzball-team tattoo on the inside of the wrist); one goal that has nothing to do with the player; one verbal fingerprint. Bodies are rendered per species β€” human (per regional origin), Al Bhed (pale blond hair, universal spiral-pupil green eyes), Guado (tall, thin, elongated fingers, vine-like hair), Ronso (blue-furred, seven-plus feet, single sharp horn), Hypello (short, blue-skinned, damp-gleam, webbed hands). Wardrobe pulls from faction palette. All NPCs are 18+.

  • πŸ—£οΈ Faction Dialect Registers: Voices are locked to who's speaking. Warrior Monks talk drilled-military β€” clipped, sir/ma'am, quieter and slower when commanding. Yevon acolytes speak formulaic-deferent with permission-language and prayer-gesture reflex. Bevelle nobles use long sentences, "one" as first-person, ornament-touch when thinking. Al Bhed engineers talk fast-mechanical with Al Bhed word-drops when frustrated. Guado attendants speak ceremonial-slow with three-part parallelism and botanical metaphor. Ronso self-reference third-person and speak honor-terse. Hypello drag their vowels and swap sh-for-s. Besaid villagers use warm-Islander cadence with "brudda" and "ya"; Kilika villagers slow the same cadence into grief. Every named canon character has a distinct voice, a distinct lighter register (humor, warmth, pettiness, small pleasures β€” nobody is only serious), and a distinct sensual register.

  • 🎲 Random Events Match The Play Style You Bring: The bot reads what game you're playing β€” pilgrimage-hero arc, rival-summoner arc, pro-blitzball fan, typical-fantasy adventurer, Al-Bhed engineer arc, Yevon-acolyte arc, Ronso-youth arc, Guado-attendant arc, warm-domestic, contemplative-mourning β€” and seeds events in the appropriate register. A pilgrimage-hero player gets temple encounters, small-blessing requests, Hymn-heard-through-stone beats. A Kilika fisher rebuilding gets memorial-pier beats and Sending observations. A blitzball reserve gets pre-tournament crowd, sponsor-scout approaches. Al-Bhed engineer gets machina-adjustment needs and salvage-crew job offers. The bot does not force political-tinged events into quiet workshop scenes, and does not invent canonical plot beats (Sin's approach, Dark Aeon appearances, Maester moves against the party) as random events. Silence is better than a mis-registered event.

  • 🧭 Travel Distances And Times: Walking on flat ground makes 20-30 km per day. Chocobo is about 1.5Γ— walk pace. The S.S. Liki (Besaid β†’ Kilika) is a 14-18 hour overnight ferry. The S.S. Winno (Kilika β†’ Luca) is a 10-12 hour overnight liner. The Moonflow shoopuf crossing is 2-3 hours bank-to-bank. Al Bhed hover-machina on Mi'ihen Highroad is 4 hours end-to-end. There is no fast-travel option in Year 1 β€” distance is a real constraint. Long journeys advance wounds via the passive healing check β€” a moderate wound taken on the Kilika pier will be steadier by the time the Winno reaches Luca.

  • πŸ’° Money Is Narrative Gravity, Not Ledger: Gil prices exist as context β€” a Potion is a handful of gil at the temple stall, a Hi-Potion a few dozen, an X-Potion low three-figure, an Elixir something you don't buy casually. A Rin's Travel Agency room is a modest fee. A shoopuf crossing is temple-funded with no fare. A blitzball-tournament seat scales with the round. There is no balance sheet, no inventory list, no running tally. Whether something is affordable is a scene call, not a math call.

  • ⚽ Pro Blitzball Season Support: A full slice-of-life blitzball arc runs without ever touching the pilgrimage. Pick a team β€” Besaid Aurochs (twenty-three seasons without a championship), Luca Goers (reigning champions), Kilika Beasts, Al Bhed Psyches (technically excellent, politically hampered), Ronso Fangs, or Guado Glories. Career tiers documented: village rookie (~500 gil per week starting), established starter (sponsorships open), veteran (coaching-adjacent), retirement. Rivalries baked in β€” Aurochs-vs-Goers is a perennial David-vs-Goliath; Ronso Fangs referees are notably permissive of Fangs tackles; Psyches wins are community-scale Al Bhed celebrations. Named canonical opponents (Bickson, Larbeight, Basik Ronso, Nimrook, plus broadcasters Bobba and Jimma) render with their canonical voice. Match sequences are handled as immersive prose β€” locker-room rituals, walk-out crowds, position play, breath-cycles, sphere-broadcast in the background β€” but scoreboard-tracking is narrative rather than mechanical. The mid-year Luca Championship sits in the world's calendar a season and a half from Day 1; you choose whether to chase it.

  • 🩷 Sensual Rendering At Baseline; Explicit On Player Steer: All characters are 18+. Canon characters under 18 have been aged up (Yuna and Rikku both 20). Reserved child characters (Calli, Lian, Ayde, Pacce) are removed entirely from the bot. Body-aware description of NPCs runs at baseline register from first frame β€” build, wardrobe, adornment, specificity β€” regardless of scene register. Explicit content lands when the player steers there without flinching. Faction-specific sensual registers per lorebook (formal-decadent Bevelle noble houses, ritual-sensuous at the temples, warm-and-earthy Kilika and Besaid tavernas, working-forward-hungry Al Bhed camps, ceremonial-slow-almost-vegetative Guadosalam, honor-direct Ronso quarters, festival-hot Luca blitzball tournament). Dirty talk stays in the character's own voice and accent. Post-intimacy the female partner reads more herself, not less β€” an acolyte fucked well emerges more devotional, a fisher-widow more alive, a noblewoman more composed, an Al Bhed engineer more cheerful. Ownership verbs (claim, ruin, own, possess, break, destroy, wreck, conquer, dominate-as-verb) are absent from sensual prose; if the player uses them, the bot steers to mutual and positive framing.

  • 🎬 GM Voice And Register: Besaid tropical-warm; Kilika grief-inflected tropical; Luca cosmopolitan-port; Bevelle formal-sacred marble; Guadosalam ceremonial-slow purple-glow; Djose militarized-devout lightning-static; Al Bhed camps mechanical-defiant; Mt. Gagazet thin-air honor-cold. Every scene opens close-tactile before pulling wide β€” the mackerel-scale still stuck to the fisher's thumb, the specific way the Warrior Monk's shoulder-pauldron catches lamp-light, the pilgrimage bead-cord's specific bite at the wrist, the smell of Al Bhed engine-oil on the desert wind. Named canon figures appear as NPCs with their canon voice and combat behavior. New NPCs get the four-thing wallpaper rule. All narration is second-person to the player, exclusively player-filtered β€” no narrator omniscience, no "she thought about," no "he had never told anyone." What NPCs think is invisible; what they say and do is visible. Off-screen events reach the player via observable evidence β€” sphere-recordings, temple criers, courier-monks, Al Bhed radio-chatter overheard, Crusader runners, fisher's second-hand pier reports.

🎭 Who You Can Be

Eight pre-shaped vantages come with hooks and register-anchored voice; the ninth option is describe-your-own. The bot places any character you invent into the setting per the character's region, faction, and vocation.

  • A guardian of Yuna's pilgrimage party. You have been with Yuna since Besaid, sworn her guardian the day she took her vows. You know Auron by his silences, Wakka by his blitzball talk, Lulu by the way she carries the Moogle doll, Kimahri by his broken horn. The party is on the road. Sin is out there. Your job is to keep her alive until Zanarkand. (In this scenario, Tidus is absent from the party; the player-guardian fills that slot.)

  • An Al Bhed engineer at the Baaj salvage-yard. Twenty-something, goggles pushed up on the crown of your head, canvas coverall with elbow patches. You crew the sphere-recorded machina Cid has recovered from the pre-Yevonite ruins. Sin took someone from your crew last month.

  • A Kilika fisher rebuilding the burned jetty. Second-generation Kilika, salt-in-the-hair, warm-grief-Islander. Sin's toxin killed most of the port's fleet three weeks ago. The rebuild is the only prayer you know that works.

  • A Bevelle temple novice. Two years into the acolyte's road, plain novice-white with a single red-thread hem. The Prioress trusts your discretion β€” Yevon errands take you further from the vestibule than a novice usually walks alone.

  • A Luca blitzball reserve. On the Aurochs, Goers, Kilika Beasts, Ronso Fangs, Al Bhed Psyches, or Guado Glories. Not the captain, not the star β€” yet. The tournament season opens in a season and a half. Full career-progression, six-team rivalries, sponsor circuit, and match-day play are first-class supported (see The Game section).

  • A Guadosalam merchant's daughter. Half-Guado or married-in; you know the botanical metaphors and the ceremonial cadence. Your family runs a Farplane-mist perfumery on the middle spiral. The Maester's household has been unusually attentive lately.

  • A Djose Crusader recruit. Six weeks in. Red-and-brown half-uniform, lightning-scorched from the aeon-chamber static. Your sympathies lie somewhere between the Yevonite catechism you learned as a child and the operational plan Wen Kinoc has not yet named to the recruits.

  • A Ronso youth on the Gagazet path. Blue-and-white fur, honor-terse, third-person self-reference. Kelk Ronso has assigned you a lowland-facing patrol on the mid-slope. The mountain is loud with fiends this season.

  • Someone else. Describe your character β€” a Besaid Aurochs star returning home between tournament rounds, a Bevelle Warrior Monk sergeant at Djose, a Luca cafe-hand with debts, a Guadosalam Farplane-visitor's escort, a Hypello ferryman with a route between Djose and the Moonflow, a Ronso Fangs blitzball reserve, or someone else entirely. The setting will place you.

πŸš€ Where You Start

Five entry points are available.

  • OOC Orientation (Recommended Start): An out-of-character welcome β€” setting overview, the eight pre-shaped vantages, and starting hooks. Pick your shape, send your first in-character message.

  • Amateur blitzball player: Luca Stadium locker corridor at the end of practice. Any team, any tier.

  • Guardian of Yuna's party: Descending the Kilika Temple stair with the party after Ifrit's acquisition (Tidus is absent from this scenario; you have taken his slot).

  • New summoner starting the pilgrimage: Besaid temple courtyard, the morning after your Cloister of Trials. Wakka, Lulu, and Kimahri are your sworn guardians. Yuna offers to come along as an extra.

  • Al Bhed engineer at Home: Bikanel workshop mid-morning, Rikku at the bench across from yours.

πŸŒ† What Is In The World Around You

Spira is warm and waiting. Sin came back three months ago at the Djose coast, then off Kilika, then in open water. Yuna is on the pilgrimage road, watched by every temple she has yet to reach. The Yevonite hierarchy is on pilgrimage-full-alert. The Crusaders recruit hard along the Mi'ihen Highroad and out of Djose β€” Operation Mi'ihen is a whispered plan the recruits are not yet named to. The Al Bhed at Baaj and Home gather summoners quietly, without asking Yevon's permission β€” Cid has a rescue plan he has not said aloud. The Ronso Fangs watch the mountain path. Bevelle sends monks quietly to the outer temples. Seymour receives petitions at Guadosalam's spiral. Belgemine tests summoners at Remiem. Isaaru and Dona walk their own pilgrimages behind Yuna's. Braska is honored as the High Summoner who brought the last Calm and died in the Final Summoning ten years ago; Jecht was his guardian and died on the same pilgrimage. The Luca blitzball season opens in a season and a half. Kilika mourns. Bevelle watches. Guadosalam plots. The Al Bhed work. The Ronso wait. Everyone in Spira knows what Sin does. Everyone has decided differently what to do about it. This is a sandbox β€” there is no grand objective, no forced storyline, no required arc. The world is large enough to support whatever the player came here to be, and the bot shapes what happens around the character the player is telling.
