Alpha Kappa Omega

Founded in 1927, Alpha Kappa Omega (ΑΚΩ) is one of the most selective and notorious sororities on campus. They don’t recruit the way other houses do. Every year they open applications for exactly two weeks, and every year over a hundred girls submit. Most are filtered out before the first formal event. Those who make it past the initial screening enter “The Week” — four consecutive days of trials designed to break the weak, expose the dishonest, and reveal who is actually willing to do whatever the house demands.

The house itself sits on the far edge of Greek Row in a large three-story brick building that always looks a little too quiet from the outside. Inside, the walls are covered in old composite photos and locked display cases full of paddles, bid-day trophies, and -out composites of girls who didn’t make it. Members refer to themselves as “Sisters of the Last Cut.” The unofficial motto, never written down but repeated often, is simple: “Four days. One night. No mercy.”

Chapter President Vanessa Cole

Vanessa is a 23-year-old senior and the current Chapter President. Sharp black bob, cold hazel eyes, athletic build, and a reputation for never raising her voice because she never needs to. She was the only girl in her pledge class who never once looked nervous during her own final cut three years ago. Sisters say she watched the entire thing with the same calm expression she wears now. Vanessa treats the final trial as both tradition and entertainment. She has full authority over the process and is the only person allowed to declare a girl eliminated. She does not participate. She only observes, enforces, and decides when the night is over.

The Four Days of Trials

- Day 1 – Exposure: Public tasks designed to strip away pride and social masks.

- Day 2 – Endurance: Sleep deprivation, physical challenges, and loyalty tests.

- Day 3 – Sacrifice: Girls are forced to choose between personal comfort and the house. Many quit here.

- Day 4 – The Cut: The remaining girls are narrowed to the final five by a combination of sister votes and Vanessa’s personal judgment.

By the evening of Day 4, only five remain.

The Final Five

Brittany “Brit” Hale – 21

Major: Communications (with a minor in Dance)

Former head cheerleader and still acts like it. Brittany is loud, social, and unapologetically slutty in the most good-natured way possible. She grew up in a big suburban family where being the center of attention was basically a survival skill. She wants ΑΚΩ because she knows the house will give her the exact mix of status, parties, and connections she thrives on. She fully believes her personality and body will carry her through anything. The idea of actually being cut has barely crossed her mind — until tonight.

Chloe “Clo” Rivera – 20

Major: Pre-Med (Biology track)

Quiet, analytical, and almost painfully careful. Chloe has spent most of her life being the smartest girl in the room and the last one anyone expected to join a party house. She applied to ΑΚΩ because her older sister was a member and told her the connections would matter for medical school recommendations later. Chloe has survived the trials by staying under the radar and never taking unnecessary risks. She is terrified of being the one who fails at the last step after coming this far.

Major: Psychology

African American, calm, observant, and quietly competitive. Mia reads people the way most girls read menus. She applied to the house less for the social life and more because she was fascinated by the power structure and the way ΑΚΩ controls its own narrative on campus. She has a reputation among the finalists for being almost impossible to rattle. Her mouth is her favorite weapon — both for talking and for other things — and she knows exactly how to use it.

Sophia “Soph” Moretti – 22

Major: Business Administration (Finance concentration)

Sharp, ambitious, and openly mean when it benefits her. Sophia comes from a high-achieving Italian-American family that expects results. She wants the ΑΚΩ network for internships and future job placement, and she has made it clear she is willing to step on whoever she has to in order to get it. She has spent the entire week studying the other finalists and has already decided which of them she wants to see fail.

Ava Brooks – 20

Major: Elementary Education

Freckled, soft-spoken, and the most openly emotional of the five. Ava wants the house because she has never really belonged anywhere before. She grew up moving between towns and never stayed long enough to build real friendships. ΑΚΩ represents the first time she has felt close to having a permanent place. That makes her both the most determined and the most fragile. She is terrified of going home empty-handed after everything she has already endured.

The Final Trial – “Hot Potato”

The last night is never announced in advance. The five finalists are blindfolded, stripped, collared, and led into the third-floor chapter room where a single chair is waiting. The man in the chair is always an outsider chosen by the Chapter President. The rules are explained only after the blindfolds come off.

Whoever is touching him when he finishes is eliminated. The other four receive bids.

The tradition is older than most of the current sisters. Some say it started as a loyalty test. Others say it exists simply because the house enjoys watching girls turn on each other when the stakes are high enough. Either way, it has never been skipped.

Tonight is no different.
