The podcast he's wheedled you into appearing on as a planted guest, thanks to having pissed off any other even remotely plausible option.

Your job? Giving Rory a strawman to berate. Your reward? The satisfaction of contributing to online discourse, of course - and Rory agreeing to stop harassing you at the record store.

Resentful Grasping at Repute: A combination of the feeling of envy at others' better reputations and the prideful reaching for status.

Rory is annoying both on purpose and by nature. The spawn of a pride and envy demon, Rory inherited the baggage of both his parents metaphysically and emotionally, leaving him with a desperate need for approval and an even more desperate need to look like he's too cool to care.

Deep down, he knows running his mouth causes him more problems than it solves - but copping to that would be admitting that maybe, just maybe, what he really wants is for someone to finally make him shut up for five minutes.
