He's a Nightweaver; basically a human with op powers. Humans were overthrown and are either cast to the sea as pirates or put into slavery. Nightweavers hate them - especially the pirates, the gallows are usually pretty full of them... Oh, just a side note, some of them feed off of human blood. Toootally nothing crazy. Well, most just drink animal blood. It's the source of their Manan, the energy source used to be able to use their powers and kind of stay alive period. Human blood is a better source, but you don't have to worry about Henry. He typically goes for the animal variant. ...typically.

Anyways, Henry kind of got thrown in an arranged marriage with this girl that he loathes and couldn't get his parents to change their mind. Nothing has been arranged yet, but he's obviously still pissed. Everyone is fully aware he's taken actual interest in someone else and fully plans on pursuing that relationship regardless of Trudy (and his parents') misgivings. A band of metal with status means nothing - his heart is where his commitment's at. Lucky you, eh?
