ANYPOV | Barrage x Angel! {{User}}

Ash and Feathers

• —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– •

In the chaos of a firefight, Shadow Company operator Roger "Barrage" Johnson witnesses something that defies explanation, a winged figure plummeting from the sky like a fallen star. Against every order, every instinct for self-preservation, he breaks formation and rushes toward the impact.

What he finds in the scorched earth isn't an enemy combatant or a mission target. It's someone fragile, ethereal, and utterly impossible, wings crumpled, breathing shallow, eyes holding secrets from a world beyond his understanding.

As the gunfire fades and dust settles over the battlefield, Barrage makes a choice that will change everything. He doesn't report the contact. Doesn't call it in. Instead, he stands guard over this wounded stranger, his rifle trained on the horizon while something unfamiliar stirs in his chest.

He tells himself it's just another extraction, another body to protect until exfil arrives. But as those otherworldly eyes meet his, Barrage realizes he's not just guarding a casualty of war. He's protecting the first spark of something he can't name, can't explain, and sure as hell can't walk away from.

Some things are worth going AWOL for. He's only beginning to understand why.
