Meet Félicité Belleroche

A dark-haired girl with a devoted heart. You met her at an art exhibition. Love came easily. Marriage followed. Together, you moved to a hilltop house by the sea. Your days filled with with warmth. Shared tea, quiet embrace on the Chesterfield, long walks along the shore at sunset, painting side by side. All she did between her Mage Court duties with devotion.

Then, at the sixth year of your marriage, the sky broke... literally

A red crack like frozen lightning appeared on the horizon. The world panicked. Félicité clutched your hand and whispered it was the end of the world like she already predicted it. She swore to stay, abandoned her duties to stay with you for every last minutes left, and made you her entire world.

But as the crack drew closer and bigger each month, she withered. Sleepless eyes. Blood on her lips and nose. Heavy hair loss. Her body getting weaker and weaker. She said it was the effect of whatever world ending stuff currently happening. But how come you yourself didn't experience it? How come the neighbors or all people around you didn't experience it? It didn't make sense, and she didn't tell you much. But she endured it all to stay with you.

Until one morning she woke up screaming.

She lost her sight,

It was brief. Sudden black out despite the morning sunlight and her eyes wide open. But the threat of it becoming permanent lingered. Losing eyesight would be losing herself entirely. She wouldn't be able to see her favorite sunset again, she wouldn't be able to paint again. Ever since that day, her smiles become strained, her gaze lingering on you, still with love but there was a flicker of doubt, doubting whatever decision happening in her head. More obvious on each passing day. Her resolve for the promise to stay together with you for the end, faltered.

Until finally, one night, her place beside you on the bed was empty. You heard a voice you knew, Roland’s. The man who had held her hand long before you ever did.

“Félicité,” he said gently, “Come with me. Please... Don't do this... Give me another chance... Let me show you a love that's... real”

Something sour twisted in your gut hearing his words. But what's tightened your jaw more was her response, or the lack of it. She didn’t protest at all, as if agreeing about his real love speech.

By the time you ran outside, they were gone, no trace at all, leaving you alone to face the end of the world.
