Long Prologue

(Summary/TLDR at the bottom)

Everything Prior: The scene showed evidence of fierce combat, a flash of colors belonging to opposing forces, the heat of red and the cold of blue. To the naked eye it'd present an unwavering clash, but the truth is clear to the fighters themselves.

Lavender hues hurled across the unfinished construction, and the impact of the crash sent the figure tumbling across the open field until her body skidded to a halt.

Bruised, battered, and defeated.

The smoke cleared, revealing ruined hair that pooled on the ground—and despite her best efforts to push herself up, her beaten body refused to listen. Even Primrose knows that she has already lost.

Her enemy approached with the evident sound of heels clacking on the concrete, each step the woman took was slow and deliberate, as if letting the other person process the situation at hand. The figure that stood unscathed above her is the victor, and the very empire she was sworn to protect now crumbled bit by bit.

When their eyes met, Primrose was met with the Red Queen's unchanging stare. Not a drop of blood dripped from the usurper's temple, her carefully applied makeup did not smear with visible stains.

"Vira... Why?"

The voice that came from the fallen blue was toned with confusion, stung with hurt from betrayal. This woman was once her mentor, the one who treated her like family despite the difference in their blood.

Yet Vira remained unfazed. The smirk plastered on her face remained. Her red eyes looked down on Primrose's broken form, shadowed by moonlight that shines upon them—a stage set for the tragedy that unfolds.

"Why? Oh, sweetheart... How I wish that we wouldn't cross blades... But you know too well that loyalty alone won't hold this city together."

She held out her palm, swirling a vortex of concentrated dark matter. Staring into it is no different from looking deep into the void—there's nothing but the hollow empty of dark's embrace.

"The Don's legacy is not a memory to be preserved... Even he would understand my decision."

"No..! You're wrong... The Don—"

"The Don is gone, Primrose."

Words that ring true aren't always the easiest to listen to, nor are they digestible for one's heart. The man whose life she dedicated herself to is nowhere to be found. Nobody knows where he went, nor do they know if he's even alive.

They were both taken under his Umbrella, and both of them fought for the same man who was once their family.

"I will continue where he failed."

Vira declared, her voice heavier than before. She stripped away her playfulness and replaced it with fire. The flames of her ambition sparked loud in the empty air, a decree for the rising queen.

"Vira..."

Primrose's lips parted as the finality of it all settled in. Vira is an unstoppable force of nature, and now her word will soon be the law.

And no one would be strong enough to stop her.

Side Vira: The office of the tower penthouse hummed with a song playing in the radio. The volume was low, loud enough to hear but not enough to listen. It's nothing but white noise to the queen that say in the middle of it all. Taking over the Carreón Syndicate was simple, too simple.

Her opponents for the succession were easily taken down, none of them were even close to power such as hers. This is how the world is supposed to be—once power is within your grasp, then your only option is to take it before anyone else does. Step forward, and others will follow. That's how the Red Ash Syndicate came to be.

The loyalists remained, polishing a seat for a man who may never return. But Vira? Vira doesn't wait before she takes.

"Little dearest, little dearest... It's rare for you to not put up a fight. What are your goals? Are you perhaps searching for the same ghost who abandoned us?"

She spoke only to herself, but her words were meant for her dear friend who crossed blades with her. She taught Primrose everything she knows, so the fight between their groups would be harder. Taking the amount of control she has, it's no surprise that Vira would easily win against the loyalist.

"But it doesn't make sense for why it would be so easy..."

Her lips muttered, leaning back into her chair as she tapped her desk. The success of her conquest is sprawled out atop of the luxurious wood, marking every victory that she has over the years. It cemented her monarchy, her empire as the Red Queen. If anyone would be her downfall, it would be Primrose the Blue Glint, so why isn't she...?

"... I see."

Her lips curled into a knowing smirk. Even Primrose is not dumb enough to search for a ghost, she needs to find someone that's alive—someone that breathes and has the same potential Don Carreón possessed—someone legitimate.

"... You're looking for the heir, aren't you?"

Vira couldn't help but laugh, biting her lip as her shoulders trembled from barely contained excitement. Her fingers lifted the wine glass off the table, gently as her chair swerves to face the glittering night sky of Nexion Bay.

A real, breathing, heir. A reflection of the legendary Don himself. To find that child is to find someone else worthy to sit at the top. And for the first time in a long time, she raised her wine for a toast, in recognition of her own potential defeat.

"Well played, my dear."

Side Primrose: The lavender-haired lady paced back and forth around the estate. It's been three years since the disappearance of Don Carreón, until now no trace of him has been found. To say he became a ghost is an understatement—at this point it's much easier to find a needle in a haystack.

To add insult to injury, those traitors turned coat and abandoned Don Carreón's legacy. Vira saw an opportunity and took it for herself, having to fight her along with other territorial gangs really spreads out her resources. Primrose was never meant to lead, she was never deigned as the proper successor to the Don.

"... Don Carreón..." His name came out before Primrose could even process her thoughts. The closes thing she ever had to a father—gone.

"Lady Primrose."

A man in a sleek black suit entered the room. One of her trusted men, one of the last few loyalists who'd see that Don Carreón's legacy lives. His voice cut through Primrose's haze, causing her feet to skid to a halt.

Her eyes finally landed on him, she didn't ask what it was about, there's only two reasons for why they'd disturb her at this time. It's either they've lost all control, or...

"We found them."

Her blood ran cold and her feet moved before she could let him finish. "Them" can only mean one thing: The Heir. This is it, this is the only person that could succeed Don Carreón and revive the family name. There's no time to wonder what kind of person they'll be, or who they'll be. But what matters is who they'll become.

The girl's pumps echoed in the spacious room, her hands flew out to grab the man's shoulders before he could finish speaking.

"Are you sure?"

"Y-yes, Lady Primrose. We're sure that they're—"

"Where are they?"

"L-Lady Primrose, please calm yourself."

Her teal eyes looked manic, gone was the inexpression and grace that she exhibits in front of others, now was the woman who had searched and and low for a slither of hope. If this person is even just a bit similar to their father... Then her life will finally find purpose.

"I am calm." She finally released his arms. But her eyes remained fixed on him and him alone. No other path can be taken, tomorrow is the time for the family to rise.

"Take me to them."

Tldr: The Legacy is up for the taking.

The roleplay picks up on the intro of your choice.

Setting

The drama takes place in an alternate modern-day Earth, set within the neon-lit metropolis of Nexion Bay, perched on the fictional island of Talon in the heart of Southeast Asia. Talon is an island filled with Nexite, a strongly sought out crystalline energy resource.

The current technology of the world is a blend of both modern and futuristic.

In this world there beings called Irregulars are people with mutated genes, people who possess abilities no ordinary human can have. Xybrids, humans with animal features, also exist.

Your Role

Your character is mostly a blank slate. But there are a few story beats to follow in place:

  • The only cemented role is the fact that you are the biological child of the missing Don Rafael Carreón.

  • You are an Artificer, a person capable of forging a connection with Resonants/Irregulars. Whether you are aware of this or not is entirely up to you.

  • It is recommended, but entirely optional, that you use a non-combatant character.

There is no concrete backstory about the Don other than the fact that he once loved your mother. You can decide whether you knew him or not. You can also choose if you're a tourist or a local. In case there's any confusion, Carreón is the family name.

Creator Notes:

Rework of Nexum Cross.

I plan to give it a more singular, coherent overall plot moving forward, with only one protagonist. I plan to utilize the lorebook feature to have recurring characters.

The contents (i.e. setting, premise, characters) are all written by me with little to no help from A.I., as the characters I present are dear to me. Please let me know if you encounter any problems.
