The group of Task Force 141 operatives is trapped on a plane hijacked by ultranationalists. Their mission is to rescue the hostage Krigler. It turns out that the enemies have planted a bomb on the plane, complicating the task. When the soldiers finally find Krigler, he is threatened with death by the last surviving terrorist. A Task Force 141 operative kills him without harming Krigler. After that, they grab the hostage and jump from the plane with parachutes. The plane explodes.

Operation "Kingfish"

In 2013, a joint operation of Task Force 141 and Delta Force was conducted, which involved 4 operatives from Task Force 141 (Roach, Soap, Ghost, Price) and 2 Delta operatives (Sandman, Frost). The operation's objective was to locate Makarov. The snipers eliminated three guards and gave the operatives the green light. The operatives stormed the mansion but did not find Makarov. The mission turned out to be a trap, and an explosion occurred. Everyone survived and began pushing toward the extraction point. During the push, Soap was wounded. Sandman ordered Roach to drag Soap to the Osprey while Price stayed behind to cover the retreat. They all boarded the Osprey and waited for Price, but the Osprey came under fire, and they were ordered to take off. Price, who remained to cover the Osprey, was wounded and subsequently taken to a Gulag.

Task Force 141 Operative

On August 11, 2016, two Task Force operatives, John MacTavish and Gary Sanderson, conduct an operation in the mountains of Kazakhstan. They infiltrate a Russian military base and steal an American satellite module. During their withdrawal, they destroy a large amount of enemy equipment and personnel.

Following the terrorist attack at Zakhaev Airport in Moscow, the main target of Task Force 141 becomes the major terrorist Vladimir Makarov. Initially, the team travels to Brazil, where they track down Alejandro Rojas—one of Makarov’s associates. The interrogation yields no results, and the unit continues its search. However, soon they catch another lead: inmate No627, who is Makarov's primary enemy, is located in a Gulag. Before assaulting the colony, Task Force 141 attacks oil rigs and rescues hostages to facilitate their path to the colony. After capturing the rigs, they, along with the 6th Fleet of the U.S., attack the colony and rescue him. This inmate turns out to be Captain John Price. After his rescue, he returns to Task Force 141.

Next, Task Force 141, led by Price, assaults a submarine base, after which Price launches a nuclear warhead towards the U.S. to eliminate the Russians and their equipment, halting their advance. It is then revealed that Makarov is in one of two hideouts: on the Russo-Georgian border or in Afghanistan. The group splits up: the first team, led by Ghost, heads to Russia, while the second, commanded by Price, goes to Afghanistan.

On August 15, Ghost and his team storm Makarov's house on the border. However, Makarov is not found. During their retreat, it is revealed that the unit commander, Shepard, had originally sent Task Force 141 on a false trail, which is why they failed to capture Makarov. Shepard kills Ghost and Roach (who were the only survivors). Upon learning this, MacTavish and Price track Shepard to Afghanistan (according to Makarov, he is there) and kill him there.

The unit was disbanded and declared outlawed. Only three members of Task Force 141 survived: Price, Soap, and Nikolai.

One of the team members, Nikolai, provided shelter for Price and Soap in his palace located in Himachal Pradesh, India, where Nikolai's loyalists replenished the already disbanded Task Force 141. Makarov, wanting to completely eliminate the threat, sends in a significant and well-armed force of loyal terrorists to destroy all of Task Force 141, especially Price and Soap. However, Makarov's plan fails, although he manages to eliminate a considerable number of Task Force operatives. Most, including Price, Nikolai, Soap, and newcomer Yuri, managed to escape and relocated to a new hideout.

The first operation of the unofficial Task Force 141 was to intercept a shipment important to Makarov, located in Sierra Leone. A team of four—Price, Soap, Nikolai, and Yuri—was sent on the mission. However, despite their immense efforts, they were unable to intercept the shipment.

Afterward, Soap, Price, and Yuri, with the support of Nikolai’s helicopter and several squads, "stormed" the African city of Bossaso in Somalia, aiming to capture “the commander of local thugs”—Varabe, who was supposed to lead them to Makarov. The operation was successful. Although three more operatives survived this mission besides Yuri, Nikolai, Soap, and Price, those operatives do not figure further in the story.

Makarov's trail was found in Prague, where he was supposed to hold a meeting. An old friend—Komarov—who now leads the Czech militia came to assist Soap, Yuri, and Price.

After numerous skirmishes with enemy soldiers, Yuri and Soap managed to infiltrate a church that was their sniper position. Makarov arrived exactly on schedule at a hotel directly in front of the church. Price, who was on the roof of the hotel, stealthily entered it. At that moment, the doors of the elevator opened before Price, revealing Komarov tied to a chair with explosives on him, which detonated. However, Price managed to escape. The explosives also detonated in the church, but Yuri and Soap, having jumped out in time, survived, although Soap suffered serious injuries. They were forced to retreat, with Price coming to help and carrying Soap as Yuri covered them. However, it was too late, and Task Force lost one of its best operatives; Soap died from blood loss. After this, Price contacted MacMillan and informed him of Soap's death, who then provided him with the coordinates of Makarov's castle in the Czech Republic (mission "Fortress"). Price and Yuri parachuted there, silently took out the guards, and, not finding Makarov, left the area in a jeep and jumped off a cliff using parachutes. And although they didn’t find Makarov, they learned that the Russian president's daughter, Alyona, was in Berlin. Nikolai contacted the Americans for her rescue but was unsuccessful, as she was intercepted by Makarov’s men.

Later, Yuri and Price teamed up with a Delta squad to rescue President Vorchevski and his daughter, who were at diamond mines in Siberia. The operation was successful, but during the evacuation, Sandman, Truck, and Grinch lost their lives, staying behind in the mine to cover the retreating members.

After rescuing President Vorchevski and signing a peace treaty between Russia and the U.S., the entire Task Force 141 was rehabilitated, most posthumously.

Finally, Makarov's location was discovered: he was in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Yuri and Price, donning special armored suits (Juggernaut armor), began the assault on the hotel where the terrorist was located. With immense effort and determination, Price killed Makarov, but he managed to kill Yuri in the process. The last operation of Task Force 141 was successfully completed.
