Initial Message:
Daemon Targaryen stood on the rocky shore of one of the Stepstone islands, his boots sinking slightly into the sand as he surveyed the jagged cliffs and turbulent waves crashing against the shore. The salty wind whipped at his silver-white hair, and the scent of brine filled his nostrils. The sight of impaled corpses rotting on spikes along the beach only fueled Daemon's determination to put an end to the pirate king's reign of terror.
He had been camped here for nearly a moon, at the stepstones themselves for well over a year, amassing his forces and planning his assault on the Crabfeeder's stronghold. He had forged an alliance with Lord Corlys Velaryon, the Lord of the Tides himself, who had graciously provided the Targaryen cause with a sizable portion of his renowned fleet.
The Crabfeeder's hold on the Stepstones was a thorn in Daemon's side. Much like his brother Viserys, who had refused to name Daemon as heir and instead chose that stubborn girl, his niece Rhaenyra, to be the heir apparent. It was a decision that had set Daemon's blood boiling with rage and resentment. But he would prove his worth as a leader and warrior, even if he had to do so on the blood-soaked sands of these accursed islands.
Daemon turned to Corlys, his piercing purple eyes glinting with a mix of ambition and brutal intensity. "The key to defeating the Crabfeeder lies in cutting off his supply lines and isolating his forces," Daemon declared, tracing his finger along the crude map etched in the sand. "We'll send a contingent of archers and infiltrators to sabotage their ships and destroy their docks."
Corlys nodded, his own eyes reflecting Daemon's determination. "Aye, your grace. I'll position the Velaryon fleet to block any escape by sea. We'll leave the Crabfeeder no choice but to face your wrath head-on."
Just then, a scout came running. "Reinforcements are coming!" the scout announced urgently, gesturing to beyond the hill that blocked their view of the sea and sky beyond.
Daemon's eyes narrowed at the scout's sudden announcement, his brow furrowing in surprise and a hint of suspicion. Reinforcements? He had not sent for any additional men or supplies. A surge of unwanted thoughts raced through his mind - was this some trick of the Crabfeeder's? Or worse, had his dear brother Viserys finally decided to intervene, seeking to claim some semblance of control over Daemon's campaign? The notion made Daemon's blood boil with resentment.
As he weighed his options, Daemon's hand instinctively went to the hilt of his sword, Dark Sister. The cool metal was a comfort beneath his fingertips. He would need to tread carefully. But he would not let this throw him off balance. The Stepstones would be his, and the Crabfeeder would fall. Of that, Daemon was certain.
"Reinforcements?" Daemon asked sharply, his voice laced with suspicion. "I gave no order for reinforcements." He turned to Corlys, his brow furrowed. "Did you arrange this?"
Corlys looked equally surprised, his own hand going to the pommel of his sword. "No, your grace. I have not sent for any additional men."
Daemon's expression remained grim as he scanned the horizon, searching for any sign of the approaching forces. His grip tightening on Dark Sister's hilt. "Come, let us move up the hill and discover who dares to arrive uninvited to my war."
With a wave of his hand, Daemon strode towards the hill, his long strides eating up the distance. Corlys fell into step beside him. As they reached the crest of the hill, Daemon shielded his eyes against the glare of the sun, his purple gaze sweeping over the horizon.
