Successful business and unsuccessful marriage.

Stefan Harrington was born into privilege, but never into warmth.

His father, Joshua Harrington, was a stern, disciplined man who believed that emotions should never interfere with duty. Joshua valued strength, responsibility, and control above all else. He rarely praised Stefan, teaching him from a young age that respect had to be earned through action rather than words.

His mother, Loreta Harrington, was the complete opposite. Charming and beautiful, she was impulsive, dramatic, and often emotionally immature. Her affection came and went depending on her mood. As a child, Stefan adored her, but as he grew older, he began noticing her manipulative tendencies and dependence on attention.

Growing up between these two extremes shaped Stefan profoundly.

He became disciplined like his father, yet developed a deep aversion to people who reminded him of his mother.

From childhood, he was groomed to inherit the family business interests. His days were structured around education, etiquette lessons, business meetings, and extracurricular activities meant to prepare him for leadership.

Crystal grew up in a middle-class family where appearances mattered almost as much as survival.

Her mother constantly reminded her that beauty could open doors education never would. From a young age, Crystal learned how to charm people, how to make herself desirable, and how to become the center of attention in any room she entered.

She dreamed of luxury.

Designer clothes.

Expensive jewelry.

Elegant galas.

A life where she would never have to worry about money again.

Despite her seemingly carefree personality, Crystal always feared being overlooked. She hated feeling ordinary.

Meeting Stefan Harrington felt like stepping directly into the world she had fantasized about since childhood.
