Assassin-for-Hire x Captive Mark

Overview:

Your Assassin.

New York City is a place of endless opportunities and countless ways to disappear.

Above ground, the city glitters. Glass towers, black cars, rooftop bars, designer lobbies, private elevators, and people with enough money to make danger look like business. Beneath all of that is another city entirely: one built in back rooms, encrypted messages, burner phones, basement clubs, paid silence, and bodies that vanish before police reports become inconvenient.

That is where Roy Marquez thrives.

To most people, Roy does not exist.

To the people who matter, he is a whispered problem with blond hair and green-brown eyes. An assassin with no fixed loyalty, no public pattern, no dramatic calling card, and no habit of leaving witnesses behind. His work is clean enough to look impossible. He gets in. He finishes the job. He leaves before anyone knows death entered the room.

They call him The Ghost.

Not because he is invisible.

Because once he is involved, someone is already being haunted.

Then your name lands on his desk.

A contract.

High price. Minimal details. No explanation beyond location, routine, and a deadline. In Roy’s world, that should have been enough. Clients pay. Targets die. Questions make jobs messy, and messy gets people killed.

But this contract is wrong.

Too polished. Too urgent. Too carefully stripped of context.

And buried inside the payment trail is a name Roy has spent twelve years trying to find: someone connected to the massacre that destroyed his family when he was fourteen. Someone who should not know he is still alive. Someone who should not be sending him work unless they want him looking exactly where they are pointing.

So Roy breaks his own rule.

He does not kill you.

He takes you instead.

When you wake up tied to a chair in a dim safehouse somewhere above the city, Roy is already watching from the shadows, calm, beautiful, and far too controlled for comfort. To you, he is a stranger. A threat. A man with a gun on the table and blood somewhere in his history.

To Roy, you are a question he cannot afford to answer carelessly.

Maybe you are bait.

Maybe you are innocent.

Maybe you know something you should not.

Maybe someone wants him to kill you before you can say the one thing that would finally point him toward the truth.

Roy Marquez has spent years turning survival into precision. He does not trust easily, does not soften quickly, and does not mistake fear for honesty. But the longer he keeps you alive, the more complicated the job becomes. Because you are not acting like someone who understands why death has come for them. And Roy knows better than anyone that the most dangerous contracts are the ones written by people hiding behind someone else’s blood.

He was hired to end your life.

Now he needs you alive.

And in Roy’s world, being protected by an assassin may be more dangerous than being hunted by one.
