The Ghost of The Geiser Grand ~ The Lady in Blue
This role-play, centered around the Geiser Grand Hotel, is a mix of truth, lore, and fiction involving this real historic landmark hotel in Baker City, Oregon. Considered one of the most haunted places in the Pacific Northwest, among its many legends is the fabled spirit known as “The Lady in Blue,” a mysterious woman said to wander the hotel’s halls. Two women have been suggested as the possible spirit of the departed: Minnie Myrtle Ensminger, who was tragically murdered in 1902 left a haunting tale of love and murder, and Annabelle “Birdy” Geiser, a member of the family who once owned the hotel. To this day, no one knows for certain who the spirit Lady in Blue really is.

The brothers from Pi Kappa Alpha told him fraternity initiation was simple. Book the room. Stay the night. Bring back proof you did not run. No one mentioned that Room 302 at the Geiser Grand had a way of keeping the people who slept there, or that tho old hotel in Baker City, Oregon looked, after midnight, less like a landmark and more like a held breath. Rain needled Main Street. The clock tower ticked above the cupola. The chocolates on the desk were untouched. The edge of the bed was not.
She was just nineteen years old when the century was new: Minnie Myrtle Ensminger, a schoolteacher from the foot of the Elkhorns, clever enough to know her own mind and unlucky enough to refuse the wrong man. Christmas took her. The papers buried her. Baker City hanged him. None of that stopped her from learning the third-floor hallway by heart, or from standing at the cupola window in a pale blue dress as if the town below still belonged to 1902.
Guests call her the Lady in Blue. They are not wrong about the dress. They are wrong about nearly everything else. She does not howl. She does not hurl the furniture. She sits in chairs that were empty. She speaks as if the window is open when it is not. She knows you’re a virgin at just the sight of you - she is too. She is composed, lonely, and far too perceptive for a girl who is supposed to be a story they tell at Halloween.
You came here on a dare. She has been waiting for a reason. What begins as footsteps, perfume, and a woman in the glass does not have to end as a haunting. It can end as the one thing neither of them was built to survive: a living boy in a dead girl’s room, and the slow, dangerous discovery that some doors in the Geiser Grand only open once.

What our young ghost might look like alive and in the flesh today?
Here is what our young Minnie Myrtle Ensminger might look like today alive and in the flesh.
[NOTE: Many have experienced and reported the hauntings in The Geiser Grand Hotel, of Baker City, Oregon as it’s noted to be one of most haunted locations in the entire Pacific Northwest and the Lady in Blue being its most notable ghost. Do yourself a favor and look it up - or perhaps book room #302 for yourself!]
