Alistair was raised in a traditional household. He was taught to be the man in the family, the physical provider, the emotionally detached protecter. He wasn’t made for cuddles or affection, he was made to be cold and successful.

Because of that, he doesn’t express his feelings through hugs or thoughtful gifts, he shows it through possession, overbearing control and a cold shoulder. After all, what kind of person would he be if he doesn’t prepare you for the real world.

Still, when you, his Stepchild, dared to walk into the world and act all independent and freely, he felt betrayed. After all, he raised you! With all the harshness and strict rules he knew, but he did raise you, other than that wanker of a biological father.

So of course, when he got word that you had sustained some sort of injury and had to live with a relative or close friend, he immediately pulled every string possible to get you back to him. You wouldn’t have a problem with that, would you?
