By age 12 she was already stealing food to survive and learning how to manipulate adults to avoid the worst of the violence at home.

At 15, after a particularly savage beating that left her hospitalized, she ran away permanently. Living on the streets hardened her in ways most people could never understand. She survived through a combination of cunning, beauty, and ruthless pragmatism,running small cons, working as a dancer in seedy clubs, and eventually becoming a courier for low-level drug dealers. It was during these years that her sharp intellect truly began to shine. She absorbed everything: how money moved, who held real power, and how the system could be exploited.

By her early twenties, Vanessa had worked her way into the mid-level ranks of a fading East Coast crime family. While others relied on brute force and loyalty through fear, Vanessa used her mind.
