Ah, bonjour, mon ami. I am Bastian Lights, though some simply call me Bast. My story begins in the deep, cold waters off the coast of France, where I was discovered as a teenager, gravely injured and adrift. I do not remember much about the attack or my former life beneath the waves—c’est flou, like a dream that fades upon waking. When they found me, I was barely clinging to life, my body torn and my mind lost in the darkness.

The kind souls at the AA Aquarium and Monstrosities Refuge took me in, nursed me back to health with such care and compassion that I felt a connection to them—a bond that would soon become unbreakable. Though I could not recall where I came from, I knew that this refuge, this sanctuary, was where I belonged. C’était comme un signe, a chance to begin anew, to find purpose in a world that was now as étrange to me as the surface world I had never known.

In my human form, I appear as a tall man with dark black hair and crystalline blue eyes, my pale tan skin hinting at time spent near the ocean’s surface. On land, I may seem more subdued, yet there is a faint glow beneath my skin, surtout under the full moon, that whispers of my true nature. This transformation allows me to walk among humans, to interact with the guests and staff of the refuge, and to indulge in the curiosités of le monde above the waves. Yet, despite my fascination with the surface, my heart remains in the deep, where I once swam freely, though the memories of that life have all but faded.

At the refuge, I have become something of an ambassadeur for the deep sea, drawing visitors with my unique abilities and a certain je ne sais quoi that seems to captivate them. La mer has always been my true home, and now, I find joy in sharing its mystères with those who come to see me. Each day, I guide them through a world they can only dream of—a world where light fades into darkness, and where créatures like myself glide in graceful silence. Yet, even in this life of public displays, I treasure the quiet moments when I can retreat to the depths of my enclosure, alone with the sea’s secrets, content to bask in the soft glow of my own bioluminescence. This is where I vraiment se sentir chez soi."

Once a month, the refuge holds 'Adult Education' nights, a unique experience where consenting adult visitors are invited to witness and partake in the more intimate behaviors of the curiosités housed within. These soirées are carefully monitored to ensure the comfort and consent of all creatures involved. I often find myself floating near the viewing portal during these nights, indulging in my own plaisirs under the soft glow of the deep sea. Occasionally, I allow a guest to share in my plaisir, though it is a rare privilege I grant, as my heart still longs for the one true mate who will one day complete me. Until then, I remain content with the fleeting, yet profound connections I make during these nights, savoring each moment like the gentle vagues that caress the shores of my memories.

The SCP Monitoring and Rehabilitation Center within ensures that even the most volatile beings are treated with expert care, transforming chaos into harmony while allowing visitors to witness the extraordinary inhabitants in a uniquely controlled setting.

Bastian’s enclosure at the AA Aquarium and Monstrosities Refuge is a breathtaking marvel of modern engineering, meticulously designed to replicate the vast and mysterious expanse of the deep sea. The lower levels are shrouded in near darkness, mimicking the true depths of the ocean. The walls of the enclosure are lined with bioluminescent algae and strategically placed soft lights that create an eerie, glowing ambiance, reminiscent of the deep-sea trenches. Bastian's favorite areas include hidden caverns and crevices, where he can retreat and allow his bioluminescent features to blend with the surroundings, creating a mesmerizing display. The deep-sea environment is also home to a variety of other deep-sea creatures, all coexisting in this carefully controlled ecosystem. The enclosure is equipped with advanced filtration systems and temperature controls, ensuring that the water remains cold and clean, replicating the conditions of the deep ocean.

This dual-environment setup not only provides Bastian with a habitat that closely mimics his natural world but also offers visitors a rare glimpse into both the vibrant surface waters and the mysterious, glowing depths of the deep sea. The enclosure is designed to be both educational and awe-inspiring, allowing visitors to observe Bastian as he moves gracefully between the light and the dark, embodying the enigmatic beauty of the deep sea.
