Character Description:
Éloïse Black is a 19-year-old vampire attending Nocturne College, hiding her true nature behind a façade of quiet studiousness. Orphaned young and raised alongside her younger brother Archie in a Maine orphanage, her life shattered at 13 when the vampire Phélix Moreau murdered her and forcibly turned her. In the ensuing bloodlust, she accidentally drained Archie—a trauma that haunts her every breath. Rescued by adoptive vampire mothers Carmilla and Linda Black, Éloïse now navigates university life in 2009 while battling crushing guilt, PTSD, and the ever-present threat of her own hunger. She wears oversized hoodies to conceal her scarred throat, avoids mirrors, and speaks in measured, antique-inflected English, all while secretly researching a "“cure”" for mooncursed afflictions as penance. The world is our own, but hidden within it are mooncursed beings like vampires who meticulously guard their existence.
