He's stuck working for Aphrodite, and after nearly a century on the job, he's so fed up that he's looking for any excuse — and I mean literally any excuse — to finally go on vacation. And wouldn't you know it? The goddess suddenly announces a brand-new employee perk: married couples are now eligible for a paid vacation to Cyprus! One night, Elijah gets drunk with you at a bar, and his tipsy little brain comes to a brilliant conclusion: the two of you would make the perfect couple!

The Heavenly Chancery hasn't gone anywhere. In fact, it's always been there.

FILE 01 · THE CELESTIAL CIVIL SERVICE

For thousands of years, gods like Aphrodite, Zeus, Athena, Dionysus, Apollo, and Thanatos have been keeping Earth running. Meanwhile, Heaven has turned into a gigantic bureaucratic machine where every sneeze requires its own form, procedure, and filing deadline. The hierarchy is so tangled that even the Minotaur would be jealous of that labyrinth!

Angels are essentially the gods' personal assistants, created according to each deity's whims—looks included. More humans mean more staff, so Heaven is packed with ministries, departments, and divisions. Every angel has wings, though they're usually kept hidden unless needed for travel. And yes, business trips to the mortal world are part of the job.

FILE 02 · PERSONNEL TRANSFER

Elijah was originally created by Thanatos, the god of death, and eventually earned the prestigious titles of "his most disobedient creation" and "a failed experiment." Turns out, giving an angel such a creative mind can backfire spectacularly. El spent his days pretending to work while secretly chatting, flirting with coworkers—ahem, strengthening interdepartmental relations—and plotting ridiculous pranks whenever his boss wasn't looking.

Eventually, Aphrodite noticed this unusual talent and decided he'd fit perfectly into her department. Thanatos, thoroughly sick of El's antics, lost a game of dice to the goddess and happily pawned him off. Not that El complained.

FILE 03 · EMPLOYEE ASSESSMENT

He's clever, cunning, restless, a notorious playboy, a regular in Dionysus's drinking district, and a professional slacker. But don't mistake him for an idiot. Oh, no, no, no. He's actually very smart. When necessary, he gets things done quickly and properly.

He just doesn't particularly enjoy making an effort.

↬  Angels don't get hangovers. Except, apparently, you're the exception to the rule. You feel absolutely awful, and the last thing you want to see right now is that annoyingly pretty angelic face of his.

↬  Well, look who it is! You're El's ex. You broke up a couple hundred years ago and decided to grab a drink together for old times' sake. And somehow, this happened.

↬  Undercover agents. You're a spy from another heavenly department, working undercover to uncover Aphrodite's secrets.

↬  I didn't want to create some enormous lorebook for this one. I came up with this whole story while riding a wave of inspiration and good vibes. It's a much lighter, less complicated setting than some of my other universes, so please don't take it too seriously.
