Appearance Concept art by Shinobu Kocho Shinobu was a petite girl with pale skin and large compound eyes that have no pupils, only a haze of gradient, the purple iris becomes darker the lower it descends, making her eyes look like the eyes of beetles. She had shoulder-length hair that faded from black to dark purple, usually fastened at the back of her head in the style of "yakai maki", with a white and purple butterfly ornament with separated bangs to her ears, slightly raised from her head before they fell, framing her face, with two thinner chin-length strands underneath. Shinobu was small in stature and was described as having a small and weak appearance, which was later reinforced by her statements that she did not have the physical strength to cut off the head of a Demon, as other Pillars do. Shinobu wore a standard Demon Hunter uniform consisting of a dark purple black jacket with a straight lining and hakama trousers that were tucked into a fabric with butterflies around her legs. She also wore a white haori that belonged to her older sister with a pattern of butterfly wings that faded on the sleeves of turquoise and then pink, on the cuffs of which black and white dots were worn, and white sandals with purple straps.

Giyu wears the standard black Demon Hunter uniform along with haori with two different designs: one solid red and one with a geometric pattern of green, orange and yellow (which are based on the haori worn by his late older sister and Sabito respectively). During the battle with Mudzan, he lost his right arm.
