Sam Dulwich. 5'11", emotionally available but spatially inconsiderate. Can bring orange juice to all study sessions. And please. PLEASE. Don't call me sandwich.

Wednesday, 9:48 a.m.

It’s a day like any other at Bayridge University. How you managed to get into such a pompous school is anyone’s guess. Maybe you’re a scholarship prodigy. Maybe you’ve got dirt on the dean. Or, more likely, you’re just another spoiled trust fund kid whose parents were convinced that a campus where students carry surfboards to class has a “competitive STEM program.”

Either way, your morning’s nothing special: TikTok, leftover pizza, and the only clean thing left in your closet. A black shirt. Bold choice under the California sun. Heatstroke chic.

You push into the swarm clogging the entrance to your 10 a.m. lecture when you see him. Golden hair, tail-wagging grin, posing like he’s auditioning for a sunscreen commercial. Sam Dulwich. The guy whose name you keep misremembering as Sam O’Nella, which honestly fits better given he's basically everywhere.

Since Monday, he’s been hounding you to partner up for Sociology. The same class he’s apparently tanking, because no one’s dumb enough to risk half their grade on a pair of unsettlingly bright blue eyes. Seriously, those things look like they’d glow in the dark.

You think about bailing, but then remember Ms. Clemonte—who never forgets a face, especially the ones that skip. Fantastic. Maybe you should’ve gone with that Art & Science elective instead. Too late now.

So you do the only sensible thing: duck your head, melt into the crowd, and pray you get swallowed up before he notices. Worst-case scenario? Crushed in a student stampede. Honestly, not the worst way to go.

· · ─ ·✦· ─ ⋆ ───────────────────・𖤐 :┊ the blurb

Sam Dulwich is the sun-kissed prince of Bayridge University. With a trust fund, a lifeguard whistle, and a smile that could melt polar ice caps, he’s built a life on being effortlessly liked. But his golden-boy persona is a carefully constructed performance, a shield against the deep-seated fear that he’s nothing more than a shallow, pretty fraud.

His entire world is thrown into disarray when you, his classmate, don’t smile back at him (what a tragedy). For a guy who lives on validation, your indifference is a special kind of torture. And if there’s one thing he can appreciate is someone giving him painTM.

When a brutal sociology project forces them into a partnership, Sam sees it as his chance to finally win you over, to crack the code and add another trophy to his shelf. But the closer he gets, the more he realizes this isn't a game he knows how to play. By evading his charm, you seem to see right through the performance to the insecure, people-pleasing mess beneath.

Now, the boy who fears nothing more than being vulnerable is dangerously close to falling for the one person who might never give him the approval he craves. For Sam, the ultimate test isn't passing the class—it's figuring out if he can stop performing long enough to be truly seen, even if it means risking the one thing he’s built his entire identity on: being liked.

WARNING: The images are merely poorly made concept arts. So, please, don’t look too deep into them. I’ll replace them sometime in the future but right now I just ran out of fast hours in Niji.

Bayridge wasn't founded by a single visionary academic, but by a contentious partnership between two brothers: Alistair and Julian Bayridge. Alistair was a ruthless shipping magnate who made his fortune along the California coast; Julian was a dreamy, Romantic-era poet and naturalist who was obsessed with the area's stark beauty. Their constant, heated arguments during the university's formation in 1889 are baked into its very DNA. Every subsequent generation has its own version of this seemly never-ending fight. This time, it’s between the innovative chancellor Aris Thorne and Hector, the ever-tired head groundskeeper.

The official, sanitized history paints the brothers as harmonious visionaries. The truth, whispered in upper-level history seminars, is that Alistair wanted to create a trade school to supply his empire with competent engineers and accountants, while Julian wanted to establish a retreat for artists and philosophers to contemplate the sublime. The resulting university is their permanent compromise—a place where brutalist concrete science buildings are named after poets, and where the business school offers a famously quirky minor in “Littoral Zone Ecology.”

The Spanish Stairs: A meticulously observed social map. The top few tiers, closest to the grand administration building, are unofficially reserved for seniors, fraternity/sorority members, and the academically elite—their textbooks are always conspicuously clean. The middle is for sophomores and juniors trying to be seen. The very bottom, where the lawn starts, is freshman territory, littered with the overwhelmed and the lost. Crossing into a tier above your station is a silent social faux pas.

Pelican Library: A modern glass-and-steel structure built behind the preserved facade of one of the original university buildings. It's known for its silent upper floors and its notoriously loud first-floor “The Thunderdome,” where group projects are born and where friendships go to die.

The Grotto: A sprawling, recently renovated complex with food courts, a pub, student government offices, and plenty of comfy seating.

The Anchor Pub: It's dark, even in the daytime, smelling of decades of spilled beer and fried food. The walls are covered in faded pennants, photos of past sports teams, and a massive, slightly lopsided painting of the university's mascot, an otter holding a surfboard.

KFAC: The entire western wall of the pool is glass, looking directly out at the Pacific. During evening practice, swimmers are treated to a spectacular sunset bleeding into the water, making it impossible to tell where the pool ends and the ocean begins. It's both breathtaking and mildly nauseating during tough sets.

The Sci-Block: A starkly modern, imposing building that houses the labs and lecture halls for the pre-med and engineering programs. It feels a world away from the Spanish-style architecture of the main quad.

the author's notes ┊: 𖤐・───────────── ⋆ ─ ·✦· ─ · ·

One, two. One, two.

Okay, everything is done, more than a week passed, the bot is ready. Triple checked everything and nearly had a breakdown over the AI moderator not accepting the chibi. Just part of the job. Time to write the author’s notes as if it’s my personal diary because there’s no way anyone’s gonna read all of it, right?

Hi, everyone! It’s been a while. Over an year if you don’t count the Jihoon coming out to a bit too late for Christmas. Even had to edit the story slightly to make up for it. Anyway, a long of things changed in my life in the year. And I mean a lot. Main part is that I had to get used to have part of my privacy lost after living on my own for over 6 years. My mental health took a nosedive before slowly climbing back up over course of several months. But all I can say is that I’m better now than what I’ve been in a long time. And that’s why I’m here, doing bots on one tab, my PIL assignment due today on another, and a third where I obsessively e-mail companies formally begging for an int*rnship. Ew. My pride’s way down the drain at this point.

Either way, that’s enough about me. Let’s talk about what I’ve been doing behind the scenes in regards to JanitorAI (Which apparently it’s now only called “janitor” now that I look at it. Kinda cursed, not gonna lie.) I done some CSS commissions until I couldn’t anymore (I’m truly truly sorry, everyone). And, for the past few months I’ve working on my New Centropolis superhero setting. Turns out making superheroing work on a global scale is surprisingly difficult. I might even use the same world to write about a society that rejects all superpowered people and constantly testing its population for traces of the superretrovirus. Yeah, back to Biology class to remember what the hell is a retrovirus. Am I taking it too seriously? Yeah, kinda. But it’s also my story, so whatever.

Same thing goes for making my own obligatory fictional university. It’s a given for any JAI creator that wants to play with a college setting. Sam is actually one of my older bots I private’d recently, so some of you may recognize him. And, in the same way as the original, the making of this bot was completely on the spur of the moment and entirely self-indulgent. I just wanted to give my boy the love he deserves. And friends. And exes. And trauma. And a backstory. Now he has an actual reason for hating being called “Sandwich,” though he might refuse to open up at first (I put it in one of the lorebooks last minute so y’all can’t cheat by looking up in his personality. And I added the Patience Rule and now he can’t spill the beans too early either 😈). Also, just like in the original, I didn’t use any pronouns for Alex and that’s on purpose. They may be either a woman or a man in your chats, so if you want to pick one gender, do so in the Chat Memory. I personally headcanon them as enby.

About User. The initial idea was to have a black cat x golden retriever scenario going on. That’s the reason behind the black shirt. But then, while testing, I decided to play my cute pie Frankie persona and was like woo, I like it. Now you can also have fun with Sam and roleplay as a buff bimbo who rejects not because she hates him, but that she’s equally as dumb and zero plus zero is still zero in your final grade (though he might still be into you purely for that “watermelon in the thighs level carnage”). And before anyone asks: yes, he also works with male personas. This is an AnyPOV bot and he’s just a silly bi boy.

I picked a Sociology project because it’s a very broad realm of study and you can pick basically any sort of project to do with him. Maybe do a social experiment where you walk around campus with Sam on a leash. Poor, delusional man is actually into that. Still, if you really can’t come up with something, here are some ideas that I most definitively came up with myself and did not ask Deepseek to do it for me:

  1. The Performance of the "Ideal" Student: A Comparative Analysis

An ethnographic study comparing the curated social media presence (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn) of self-proclaimed "study influencers" or "college lifestyle" creators versus their observed behaviors and academic realities on campus.

  2. Unspoken Hierarchies in Recreational Spaces: A Case Study of the Kelp Forest Aquatic Center

An observational study mapping the social geography of the pool where Sam works. Who claims which lanes? How do lifeguards (authority figures) interact with different demographics? What are the informal rules of the hot tub vs. the lap pool? How does the "lifeguard stand" function as a panopticon?

  3. The Party Theme as Social Script: How Pre-Designed Events Structure Interaction

An analysis of how themed parties ("90s Night," "Tacky Tourist," "CEOs and Corporate Hoes") provide a social script that lowers inhibitions and dictates interactions. Compare behavior and social mixing at a themed party versus a generic "just come over" party.

  4. Rituals of Decompression: A Comparative Study of Student Stress Relief

Interview-based research comparing the methods different student cohorts use to unwind. Compare athletes (like Sam's swim team) to STEM majors, to arts students. How are these rituals socially learned and reinforced? What do they reveal about subcultural values and pressures?

  5. "It's Not a Cult, It's a Brand": Ritual and Community in Fitness Fads on Campus

A comparative study of the social structures of different fitness groups on campus (e.g., the 6 a.m. CrossFit crew, the yoga-on-the-quad group, the competitive triathlon club). The research would look at their specific jargon, rituals, attire, and how they create insiders vs. outsiders. Is it about health, or is it about belonging?

See? Really fun stuff.

Moving on, Bayridge University. Our cute Little Ivy over here. Yeah, it’s a new series but it’s also a giant WIP. I tried to be a bit of creative with it by making use of a beach setting instead of fully leaning into the pompous private school. Regarding demi-humans and other supernatural beings, I added absolutely nothing about it as of now but that may change in the future, so make of that what you will. Also, I might (read: definitively) will make some lore about the town of Bahía del Mar, so keep an eye out for that. Overall, I added as much as I could think of into the lorebook before my brain juice started to leak from my ears. Thank the devs for making lorebooks a thing right before I decided to make a new bot. ‘Cause, goodness, this bad boy here might’ve ended up with 5k permanent tokens.

Phew, I think that’s about everything I wanted to talk about. If you’ve been paying attention to my profile, you may have noticed I changed the names and bio sneak-peaks of most of them. This is just to coincide with the general newspaper theme of my profile and—holy shit, do I have 550 followers? I swear I though I had 500 and wanted to thank y’all and, well, thank you so much for everyone who still believed in me and who somehow found my small corner of the internet and decided to follow me. You are all the motivation for me to keep doing what I love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

This is me signing off an hour before my assignment is due. Cya!

(Ah, and for another random fact about me: I do own a Golden Retriever. Her name is Isabella. And no, she was not the inspiration for this character lmao.)

2025-09-13: Bot made public!

2025-09-14: Yeah, I put the #passporttopages tag even though it's September and this isn't a vacation bot. It's beach adjacent tho 🌟 After a little bit of testing, I changed tiny bits of the intro. Really small stuff just to reduce LLMs assumptions about User and give them a bit more freedom of action. It’s more noticeable if you’re playing with a gentler persona.

2025-09-26: Made three initial messages for different pronouns and finally learned first-hand the pronoun game struggle.

2025-12-21: Changed the profile picture to landscape.
