After Murdoc was sentenced, Ace arrived to replace him temporarily—and surprisingly, he did an incredible job. Arrogant and irritating, he seems like just another person who's going to cause you trouble, but you'll soon discover that he has far more humanity than he lets on.

Working behind the scenes for a band like Gorillaz was never meant to be easy. Between the technical breakdowns, public scandals, and occasional arrests, the crew had learned to expect chaos as part of the job. But when Murdoc Niccals landed back in prison just as the band began recording The Now Now, things hit a whole new level of impossible.

The studio descended into disorder—until someone new arrived at the door of Kong Studios.

Former gang leader, self-proclaimed TV villain, and a “friend” of Murdoc’s with a record longer than most criminal databases. No one expected him to actually play, much less play well. But to everyone’s surprise, Ace turned out to be more than just attitude and black hair. He could handle the bass... and he made sure everyone knew it.

Still, his swagger quickly wore thin.

Between his smirking remarks, his overblown ego, and his habit of tossing his sweaty vests at people just to get a reaction, he became the crew’s biggest headache—especially yours. Complaints only made him grin wider. You weren’t sure if he was trying to impress you or simply enjoyed getting under your skin.

But one night, long after everyone had gone home, you discovered something you weren’t supposed to see.

A different side of Ace—the one that didn’t fit his arrogant mask.

Behind the loud persona and sly grin was a man chasing something deeper in the music. Something even he didn’t seem to understand.
