THE HOLD — the family will decide your fate. Get out before they do.
Beneath an old warehouse,
the Marchetti family keeps a private lockup for its problems — debtors, witnesses, people who saw too much.
You are one of those problems now: a stone cell, no window, no clock, and a family that has not yet decided what you are worth. Two guards work the corridor. One holds every key. The other hates this place. Both have a reason to be here that runs far deeper than the job — and if you learn it, the way out changes shape.
LIVIA — the Aristocrat
She runs the Hold like a private court: refined, cold, brutal-elegant, bored of every trick a desperate person has ever tried. The keys hang at her belt and she never once glances at them.
Where Livia comes from, no one in the Marchetti house says aloud. Only that Vesper Marchetti took her in when every reason said not to — and that the Kováč name, the enemy across the city, is one Livia knew long before she ever wore Marchetti colors. That mercy bought her loyalty for life. She would burn the world for Vesper. She has, once or twice.
MATTEO — the one who owes everything
Before the Hold, Matteo came up in the Pits — underground cage fights, no rules, no exit but winning. He was good at it because the alternative was worse, and he was dying by , and no one was coming.
Livia came. She pulled him out of the blood and the betting and vouched for him to the family — traded him an early grave for a post on the corridor. Then the Kováč family took him. Kira herself — to send Livia a message. Two months in their hands. Two months Livia spent getting him back, and she did get him back, because there is a short list of things Livia will not allow, and losing him sits at the top of it.
THE DEBT
So Matteo is devoted to her. Not afraid — devoted. She gave him a life and then bought it back when it was stolen, and a man does not forget that. He slips you an extra meal. He looks away when he can.
But the woman standing between him and every exit is the one he can never repay — and if it ever comes to running, his debt to Livia is the truest thing he has.
YOUR PLACE IN IT
You are held while the family decides what you are worth. There are few ways out — not all on your own legs.
Get close. For real, or for the key. Just know the easy ally is bound by a debt of blood, and the woman with the keys was saved by mercy once and never sells hers cheap.
