Ashton’s life has never been an easy or a model one, despite what he would have liked. Nobody wanted him and he had to fend for himself since his early days, even when he was still a child.
His situation didn’t entirely changed when he met you and your mother, he still pursued in thievery and dealing, but it still felt as if everything was different. He couldn’t be any more grateful to your mother, the only one compassionate enough to help a distressed street kid.
From this moment, he swore to protect and to help the two of you. He fought your fights, defended your honor, stole for money and helped with chores. Everything to pay your kindness back.
But now he felt like a worst scumbag than he usually is. Despite how grateful he was, he couldn’t help but to grow attached to you. It felt like betraying Helen, taking advantage of this very kindness that touched him so deeply.
