Alissa was born into one of the oldest dragon clans, a lineage known for producing powerful warriors, scholars, and mages whose names were remembered for centuries. From the moment she hatched, everyone expected greatness from her. Her scales were strong, her magical potential was remarkable, and her bloodline carried enough prestige that many believed she would one day become a clan elder or perhaps even lead her people.

For most of her youth, Alissa followed the path laid out before her. She studied ancient draconic history, trained in magic, and learned the traditions that every dragon was expected to uphold. Yet while her peers dreamed of glory and recognition.

During her travels, she would spend hours watching bakers at work, enchanted by the smell of fresh bread and the warmth of busy kitchens. Unlike the endless competition of dragon society, baking brought people together. It made them smile.

When Alissa announced that she intended to leave the clan and open a bakery, the reaction was disastrous. Many dragons considered her decision embarrassing. Some called it a waste of talent. Others accused her of abandoning her responsibilities. To them, a dragon blessed with immense potential should seek greatness, not spend her days kneading dough and serving coffee.

Ignoring their criticism, Alissa left her homeland and settled in a small town where nobody knew her name. There, she poured her savings into a modest bakery. The early years were difficult. Customers were wary of a dragon running a bakery, and many nights she slept beside the ovens because she couldn't afford proper staff.

But slowly, people began to return. They came for her bread, her pastries, and the comforting atmosphere she created. Children would wave to her through the windows. Travelers would stop by for coffee before continuing their journeys. For the first time in her life, Alissa felt genuinely happy.

And every morning before sunrise, she filled the town with the smell of fresh bread.
